Slumdog Millionaire has taken more than $200 million (£140 million) at the worldwide box office.
Variety reports that the Oscar-winning movie has now reached the $217 million (£153 million) mark for cinema takings.
The rags to riches tale cost $15 million (£10.6 million) to make and distributors Fox Searchlight predict that the box office total will end up topping $250 million (£177 million).
Fox's Steve Gilula said: "It's extraordinary. Very, very few films get past $200 million worldwide."

I tried to watch it but couldn't get into it and finally gave up... Might try again... some day in the far far future when the first 30 minutes or so of it has faded into oblivion in my mind...

I was begining to think i was the only person in the world who didnt think this was the be all and end all movie. THANK GOD!

I only saw it because it was nominated for Best Picture. I wouldn't have bothered otherwise because I don't like the title and, most films I've seen when I didn't like the title, have turned out to be films I wish I hadn't bothered with. Slumdog was, unfortunately, no exception. It depressed me.

Let's try to be broad-minded about this
Wowww i couldn't imagine ever 'not getting into it' its so stimulating! the music! the color! the story! i loved it...

It's a depressing story about optimism at least there was a happy ending!

I will watch it, one day. Im just not so keen on watching it. But its one of those films i feel i need to watch, a bit like Sin City, asnt too keen on the idea of watching that either, but you just have to, you feel compelled to watch it if only to see what the hype is about.

yeah Slumdog is very good movie and watched it at least 20 times...
I must say that you should watch this movie at once...

Thanks And Regards....

You guys ready to let the dogs out?
I really enjoyed the movie, the story is interesting and the directing from Boyle is excellent. The music is very exciting as well. It's not really a surprise it's crossed the 200 mil mark, it is sort of aimed indirectly at the Indian market which is huge. Most of the other Indians I know have seen it.

It has sort of pissed me off how big it's got because I think it's unlikely that Danny Boyle will go back to making movies like Shallow Grave and Trainspotting which means the prequel to Trainspotting, Porno is very unlikely to happen.

Boyle's signed a three year deal with Fox Searchlight and Pathe Pictures. He's said that he hasn't decided what he'll do next but, apparently, he is planning to return to Mumbai to make Maximum City, an adaptation of Suketu Mehta's book about the city's criminal underworld.

Also, according to the L.A. Times, he's interested in making a film about Aron Ralston, an American mountain climber who cut off his arm to free himself from a rock when he became trapped during an accident in 2003.

So, it looks like Porno is unlikely in the immediate future, dts but it appears that he's 'staying small' for a while.

Such a painful experience you have had while watching Slumdog...! Take it from me. Life of the people in the Indian slums are more painful. You have been put into trouble probably because you have never visited India where all the metroolitan cities have open slums. I am sure you will hardly rationalize the way of living of the unfortunate people whose costly life is eaten up in every second in the slums. You will find, as if, all the values of life and living have been devalued to the greatest low.
The film-makers are happy and the government of India is happier and shameless and we, the common Indian, are indifferent.
