Bright light. Bright light. Uh oh.
"Wednesday Week" by the Undertones (Believe it or not, when this song came out, my then 66-year-old mom said it was "one of the prettiest" she'd ever heard.)

Those two Undertones shows I saw at the Whiskey-a-Go-Go in 1980 are truly fond memories.

Bright light. Bright light. Uh oh.
The Undertones, obviously one of my fave bands and my fave Irish band ever, doing one of their many PERFECT songs.

"Get Over You" (live) by the Undertones

(Sure, I probably already posted it here, but if so, why isn't it one of your fave songs now?)

The People's Republic of Clogher
If I could rep that in triplicate, I would.

<<<< Fave Undertones song - The Love Parade

Have you heard their new album, Mark? Or anything by That Petrol Emotion (basically, the Bradley brothers et al without Feargal Sharkey and an American singer)? The new album isn't bad and I've seen Mickey Bradley up in Derry promoting a new compilation of outtakes and live stuff.

I can remember years ago trying to intruduce some of my mates to The Undertones and one of them said "Yeah, but their songs are really short and they all sound the same!"

My reply was along the lines of "Don't f*** with perfection"

The great John Peel has a few lines from Teenage kicks on his headstone. Better than "I've got a cousin called Kevin" I guess...

Bright light. Bright light. Uh oh.
Well, whatever you think of the Undertones, I pretty much do too. I went to see them when they toured off the last album. Yep, it was almost like Rod Stewart (at least a younger, dancier Rod Stewart} fronting the Undertones. I also have all the That Petrol Emotion albums (O'Neill Bros., Bradley was unfortunately not in their band). Did you see my post a couple of places above about "Wednesday Week"? I will LET you rep that one too

The People's Republic of Clogher
...and quite psychedelic in its own little way.

Have you seen this?

Part 2 is linked on the original page and I came across it just now searching for When Saturday Comes (my 2nd fave Undertones song).

This is a fantastic live version:
