Books you'd like to see made into a film or mini-series

What novels/short stories/book series would you like to see made into a film or mini-series? Do you think it'd work well as a film? And if you've thought about this at all, who would you like to see involved (directors? cast?)

I'd personally love to see Jasper Fforde's Thursday Next series adapted, but I think it'd be extremely hard to translate to film.
