The Descent 2

I can't wait for this, and it is a high possibility that it is going to happen, I don't know how they could continue it but I'm sure Neil Marshall if directing will come up with something yet again rated 4 or 5 stars as I think he is an amazing director, who only has made 2 films so far (with a 3rd on the way, Doomsday) is already my favourite Director. I want this film to happen so bad, hopefully after Doomsday and some other projects that I think he is involved in that he returns for The best horror movie of the 21st Century to hurry and make a Sequel!!!!!!!!!!! I know alot of people think The Descent shouldn't have a sequel as sometimes sequels turn out so bad it ruins the Original but I think Neil will easily pull it off with more clustiphopia and scares.

I'm not still sure if I liked the first one...its one of those films I can't say was great but it wasn't bad either.

I'm guessing the sequel would be a somewhat search party? or maybe just another bunch of crazy chicks/guys looking to die. Either way I hope it has more killing of each other.

28 days...6 hours...42 minutes...12 seconds
I think he should stay away from 'sequels' for the moment and continue to make refeshing films from a tired genre.

This can very well be a sequel. It was one of the best horror movies released lately, without having to rely on "torture porn" (like "Saw," "Vacancy," "Hostel," "Turistas").

The sequel would be easy to make as they'll just get a whole new cast.

The movie was about people in a cave with monsters. There's one spin on the concept and it's been done. It a situation horror, only new thing they can do is add new characters, and if they suffered claustrophobia (the main point of the original) they may as well be the same. Only thing they can do is add the hard nuts who aren't afraid of the dark etc and exploit our fear of it and that will probably blow (Hills Have Eyes 2).

"The Descent" was so good because it had a group of female characters who were FEARLESS and kicked ass! They craved adventure such as river rafting and spelunking. The characters were not stock, cliche screaming girls running around in a bikini like in other slashes. These girls were smart in the situation they were put in. And it was nice to see flawed characters.

The movie was more than just crawlers attacking them, but rather the psychological aspects of being confined and stuck with a group of female comrades. Some turned on each other, when put in the situation they were in.

All i can say is o-m-g!!!! Why do they make sequels of all the stupid movies (the firsts ones are good, but the 2nds are exactly the same as the 1st)

In Heaven Everything Is Fine
I want to see what else this guy can do, other than put a gaggle of people into a tight squeeze where they are gobbled up by humanoid monsters.

Not that I didn't enjoy The Descent and Dog Soldiers. I thought they were both brilliant fun.

i want to see a sequel cause it dont matter if the sequel sucks or not....it dont change nothing about the first one.....and the sequel could be better.......like the saw series....u just never know

The only scary thing about the first one was as previously stated, the claustrophobia, which did freak my g/f out a bit. I myself am not claustrophobic, so it did nothing for me. The monsters were unoriginal and looked like something from the Blade franchise. The acting was poor, and the dialogue wasn't very good either.

I voted this one of the worst movies this century in another thread.

The beauty of any art is that some will love it, and others will hate it. A sequel? Why not! We can add it to the ever growing list of movies to practice our 'Mystery Science Theatre 3000' bit on.

O'no! We have to swim under water through a cave, and I have a white shirt on! I don't want those cave dwelling things seeing my fun bags!!

crazed out movie freak
This was a solid movie on its own. Why ruin it with making a sequel. If he can pull it off great, but I wouldn't risk it. This was a good movie with a deeper meaning than monsters in a cave. I don't know how you can recreate the magic of the first.

I also have to add to the last post that the actresses were all very good, particularly Shauna Macdonald and Natalie Mendoza.

Nora-Jane Noone, who was so good in the Magdalene Sisters, should've been utilized more in The Descent.

Will your system be alright, when you dream of home tonight?
Looks like it will happen

U.K. indie production company Celador Films is reuniting with French-owned and U.K.-based Pathe on a sequel to low-budget box office hit The Descent, says The Hollywood Reporter.

The Neil Marshall horror flick earned $57 million at the box office, a sizable return on the original investment on a movie budgeted at less than $10 million.

Produced by Marshall and Christian Colson, The Descent 2 marks the directorial debut for its predecessor's editor, Jon Harris.

Based on a script by James Watkins (My Little Eye), the $10 million sequel will shoot more than eight weeks on location in Scotland and at London's Ealing Studios.

The stars of the original film, Shauna MacDonald and Natalie Mendoza, will reprise their roles, alongside Gavan O'Herlihy, Joshua Dallas, Anna Skellern, Douglas Hodge and Krysten Cummings.

The script sees the survivor forced back into the system of caves she battled her way out of in the first film, in a bid to locate the rest of her group.

I thought the first one was a classic (my review is here), but I'd just as soon he stayed away from a sequel. A lot of the power in any horror flick is fear of the unknown. Now that we know what's down there it wouldn't be nearly as effective.

\m/ Fade To Black \m/
I thought the first film was very good, but will a sequel be as good? and will it be just the same as the first?

I dont know about this would a 2nd ruin a already good film?
