Pitch a Project which would be a "good fit" for a "bad director"

Tools

Examples:

What project would be great for Kevin Smith? Something grounded, low budget, personal, and chatty (but not juvenile).

Rob Zombie? A slasher film that centers on a music video set. Rob Zombie is hacked to pieces while playing Dragula. Even if the film is no good, we get the pleasure of watching Rob Zombie hacked to tiny bits.

Quentin Tarantino -- Anything that's not assassins or revenge. Do another Elmore Leonard book, Quentin. And get an editor who can tell you "no."

M. Night Shyamalan -- something truly dark. A project with no catharsis, no redemption, no hope. And he doesn't get to write it. No twists.

I take this as evidence for my case. Now have him do another Leonard book, and he would really be cooking with gas again. At any rate, I am not pitching this idea or the others per se, but positioning these examples of the sort of thing I am interested in--a project that is oddly well suited for a director.

Not really sure how it's "evidence" - you specified a movie that's not about assassins or revenge and it qualifies. Aside from that, none of those seem like they'd be well-suited for any of those directors.

It's evidence because it shows what Tarantino can still do when he gets out of his typical groove revenge-porn-schlock.

Again, I am not here to pitch these ideas (I thought it was rather obvious that the Rob Zombie entry in the list was a joke). Rather I am here to see what ideas other people have. Is there some "Nicholas Meyers" who would be a surprisingly good fit for "Star Trek"? Is there some "Nixon" director, who could "go to China"?
