I saw Sir Ian McKellen on stage in Stratford upon Avon a fair few years back, so I can now say that I've seen 'Gandalf' on stage. Although, thinking of favourite characters, there are too many to think about but 'off the top of my head' I really thought Christopher Walken as 'Gabriel' was pretty scary in The Prophecy.
