Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire

I imagine a great many of MoFos will, like myself, be attending a midnight showing of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, so I thought I'd start this thread in advance.

Depending on how tired I am when I get back, I might post stop by to post my initial thoughts around 3:00 AM EST.

I look forward to seeing everyone else's opinions, too. Have at it.

Randomly visiting for now
nice thread, from the previews it seems awesome and I would be at the midnight screening but unfortunately we have booked tickets to surprise a friend of mine for her birthday so I can't see it till then

I have purposely not read the book in ages so as not to wreck the movie, because otherwise I would be saying stuff like 'i can't believe they left that out' or 'that wasn't like the book at all' when I should just be enjoying the movie. I would like to see people's comments about it tho before i see it.

i managed to catch this tonight. Was a full house by the time we got in there, it still amazes me how incredibly popular HP has become. Its a universal subject that EVERYONE just loves. Very odd.

The film was great, they do a good job with the adaptation as i, like most readers i should imagine had doubts how on earth they were gonna fit it all in, but they manage to do it pretty well, better than the adaptation of the Prisoner of Azkaban at least anyway. The biggest problems are the same faults as in the last films, namely the cast who seem to still have trouble delivering. Emma Watson plaing Hermione seems to have gone a step backward from her impressive performance in the third film. For some reason shes more wooden than ever in this one and scarily seems to rely mostly on her incredible moving eyebrows to deliver any emotion she has to portray. Radcliffe is the same as harry, still struggling with the emotional scenes, but doing much better with the more lighthearted scenes. Grint once again improves as Ron, delivering the performance the role deserves.

The triwizard tournament is done brilliantly, although i felt the scene with the maze could have been done a bit better, and all the other twists and turns of the story are presented quite well without being too confusing like this films predecessors. Highlight of the film is Fiennes as Voldy. He looks better than i could have imagined and gives an awsome performance as the big bad. The end scene with him is just superb.

This film felt very much like a British film. And i liked that.

Great Potter film that all the fans will love. i still prefer The Prisoner of Azkaban just because of its originality in the series, as this film leans a little more closely to the first two.

Just got back from seeing it. Didn't think it was all that great. It was pretty entertaining, but one of the weaker entries, IMO.

I really truly believe that Goblet of Fire was by far the best Harry Potter movie so far. Everyone is so much older. Emma Watson you can really tell has gotten older especially at the Yule Ball. Daniel Radcliffe and Rupert Grint have also gotten so much older. Daniel Radcliffe now being sixteen and is going to have to get into the challenge of playing a fifteen year old in the next movie coming out in 2007. With four movies down and still three more to go, I don't know how they are going to be able to top Goblet of Fire. It was just an amazing movie and still my favorite movie of the series so far and my favorite book of the series. With everything that has happened-it's just so amazing.

I think the Yule Ball scene was my favorite. I loved how they made it more of a teenage thing and not so formal and proper, which, I must admit, was how I pictured it in the book. I also find it funny how well Mike Newell made the Yule Ball scene work. It was a real shock to me when I saw a giant rock band playing at Hogwarts(giggle). It didn't seem normal and I think that was what made it work.

The casting for all the new chacacters was excalent. I loved Miranda Richardson as Rita Skeeter and everyone else was fantasic. I love Brendon Gleeson as Mad Eye Moody. He was brilliant. All the new studants that we meet, such as Cedric Diggor, Viktor Krum and Fleur Delacure were all wonderful. With the new Bulgarian heart throb who plays Viktor Krum you can really see why Hermione Granger fancys Viktor Krum.

The chemistry everyone on the set had with everyone else was fantasic. I loved how everyone played out their parts. I cried like a baby at the end(sniffles). Anyway, the movie itself was brilliant. The casting was perfect. Ralph Fiennes who plays the evil dark lord Voldemort was amazing. The way he moved, the way he spoke-whoa! I'm getting chills just thinking about it(in a good way).

Well, that is my review of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. I wish I could say I saw it opening day but I didn't. I saw it on the 13th and I am going to see it again on the 28th with my older brother. I hope you all enjoy this review. I loved writing it. Please everyone keep an open mind to everything and everyone!

There are those who call me...Tim.
My thoughts have pretty much been said already. I thought it was a fun film, but I've spotted a major problem for the next one.

WARNING: "Harry Potter 5" spoilers below
With Sirius getting so little screentime in this film, how are we expected to feel sad when he dies? OK, we probably will feel upset, but it will be the same feeling of sadness we felt when Cedric died in this one. It's like comparing the death of an immediate family member with the death of someone in your class in school, who you may have spoken to a few times but didn't know that well.

They'll need to devote a lot of screentime to Sirius in the next one for it to work, and I can't see them doing that.

Despite that, as I said earlier this is a fun film, but I wouldn't feel annoyed if someone comes along in the future and remakes the series and does them proper justice (not that it will ever happen).

Thanks for the reviews and comments, I hope to see it soon, may have to go by myself as friends not interested

I saw it this past weekend. I thought it was pretty great. The two other schools were great addition. Hogwarts is not the only school of magic in the world.

I haven't seen it yet probably today or sometime this week(end) but I heard it was good but not as good as the other 2, plus the person read the book which of course I dont read I didnt and she said they left alot out of the book, she said they could have made it 3 hours long and it would have been a better. But I dont know I'll post again after I see it to give my thoughts on it. until then I am up and out like atom ant.

I Will Shrink You
Believe it or not this was my forst encounter with harry potter. I refused to see HP, at first it was simply because i didnt have time and wasnt that interested, but that grew into an anti-HP vendetta. But after seeing this i can understand how it has grown into a world phenomenon. But overall i didnt really like it that much. Porbably because i didnt know what was going on. The stupid band had me cringing...

Welcome to the human race...
Big whoop. I wasn't impressed at all by this. This was a big let-down considering what I expected. It seemed incredibly rushed compared to the book, but it had to be in order to fit down to 150 minutes. At least I managed to evoke some comedy gold from intentional misinterpretation.

Viktor Krum

Finally saw it last night, it turned out really good and it was said before the other 2 schools were a great pickup for this movie and I love how hey left the whole ending open for the next installment to be able to just jump in without skipping a beat. Next up Aoen Flux

i need to get back with the forums, i was thinking of this movie... never had the time to go.

should i watch this?

I really thought this was the best of the HP movies so far. I thought it was very detailed and didn't leave out as much from the book as I expected it to.

Here to support the villians.......
It was boring, it was overlong, awfully edited in places and nowhere as spectactular as people had made it out to be. I enjoyed the Lord Voldermort showdown but most of it was utter crap, but Brendan Gleeson was very good as were most.
