Well, if The Sisters got an ew, that lot's gonna prompt a trip to the smallest room....

Anyway -

Don't have much time for Sisters of Mercy, I can listen to maybe one song at a time and then they quickly start to wear thin. The only "goth" stuff I've ever been able to listen to at length, in fact, is early Christian Death and 45 Grave. I quite like Throbbing Gristle though. Coil, Psychic tv, Chris & Cosey and the other offshoots too.

Anywho.

Death in June - Death of the West
The Jesus and Mary Chain - Never Understand
The Butthole Surfers - Something (Pioughd)

I am having a nervous breakdance
Ankh Watep - "Massive Hysteria"

They had temporarily escaped the factories, the warehouses, the slaughterhouses, the car washes - they'd be back in captivity the next day but
now they were out - they were wild with freedom. They weren't thinking about the slavery of poverty. Or the slavery of welfare and food stamps. The rest of us would be all right until the poor learned how to make atom bombs in their basements.

I love The Sisters when taken at face value - the Spandau Ballet of Goth. Getting Steinman to produce an album was a masterstroke, it suited their overblown nonsense down to the ground.

Now, The Jesus & Mary Chain - there was a band....

Me?

Hey, I can quote too!

National Express - The Divine Comedy

"On the national express there’s a jolly hostess
Selling crisps and tea
She’ll provide you with drinks and theatrical winks
For a sky-high fee
Mini-skirts were in style when she danced down the aisle
Back in ’63 (yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah)
But it’s hard to get by when your arse is the size
Of a small country"
