Set in a future world where America has lost the war on drugs, undercover cop Fred (Keanu Reeves) is one of many agents hooked on the popular drug Substance D, which causes its users to develop split personalities. Fred, for instance, is also Bob, a notorious drug dealer. Along with his superior officers, Fred sets up an elaborate scheme to catch Bob and tear down his operation. (from imdb)

It's a great novel by PKD but the trailer was surprising. I thought Linklater would be a good director but I didn't think he'd use that animation / Waking Life stuff on this. Makes the plot too hokey. I'm really bummed now.

I loved waking life but i wasnt a big fan of the rotoscoping in it, in this film however it looks pretty well done. btw how does the medium you use in movies affect the plot or make it seem hokey?
