Ferdinand (2017)
Kubo and the Two Strings (2016)
Zootopia (2016)
I’ve seen these. I’ll second the recommendation for Zoootopia and will probably vote for it. I loved the book The Story of Ferdinand when I was a kid but was very disappointed with the movie. Kubo is okay but I hated its casting choices.

Thunder Road - Takoma will probably mention this, if she hasn't already, but I thought this was really good. Well acted and written with a unique tone.
Yes, obviously I'm a huge fan of Thunder Road. I know that it's pretty divisive because the characters and the overall tone are a lot. It will almost certainly be on my ballot. I think it has a lot of empathy for the way that people with mental health issues can just manage to skate by as "normal" but then a shock to their system can totally throw them into a really bad place.

You Were Never Really Here
I've seen this one three (four?) times, and gone back to watch specific sequences of it many times. It gets better every time I watch it.

I Lost My Body - French animated film about a severed hand trying to make its way back to its young "owner". Neatly animated with a unique premise.
I watched this one with my mom and we both just sobbed at the end. So powerful. The way that it addresses the idea of loss and forgiveness is pretty exceptional. I'm worried that too few people have seen it for it to have a shot. I hope that if there's another animation countdown, this one will make it there.

3 on that Rolling Stone list for me to check out. Not getting surprised by the amount on these lists I haven’t seen. Really surprised at the amount I haven’t even heard of.

I've seen 39/50 of those.

RollingStone's 50 Best Movies of the 2010s

Bolded are movies I've seen.
I'm counting that at 30 for me.
I mean. It's a list of movies, and those movies were released somewhere in the 2010's, so it succeeded on that front. I think of the movies I haven't seen from that list, the two that interest me are Faces Places and Burning. My knowledge of Black Coal, Thin Ice is pretty minimal beyond there was a movie released called that (I think it showed up on iTunes on sale a lot). I guess I'm a little surprised to see it on there and not The Handmaiden, but maybe that's just the cultural bubble I'm in speaking.

ETA: Looking through these just to see which ones I've never even heard of, while Burning somehow slipped under my radar until about a month ago, I think all of the other ones, I've at least heard their title (even if I never paid attention to know what they were about), with the exception of Elena. I can safely say, I've never even heard of that one.

1. Moonlight (2016)
7. The Master (2012)
9. Mad Max: Fury Road (2015)
11. Phantom Thread (2017)
12. Parasite (2019)
13. A Separation (2011)
14. Inside Llewyn Davis (2013)
16. 12 Years a Slave (2013)
19. Anomalisa (2015)
28. Spring Breakers (2012)
30. The Grand Budapest Hotel (2014)
34. You Were Never Really Here (2018)
40. Call Me by Your Name (2017)
49. Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood (2019)
I've seen these. Only two of them are locks for my ballot and I can think of several 2010s movies that are way better than some of these. RS is stupid.
