Halloween (1978)

One of the first horror movies that I have seen when I was young and imo, one of the best horror movies ever made. If you're looking for a good slasher film to watch, this would be the one and I like how you got this masked psycho killer (Michael Myers) stalking and killing people for no apparent reason which I find a creepy thing to see.

Halloween II (1981)

This was a decent sequel to the original, the cheesy and nitpicking fun begins. How the film ends was a good way to close the series, but of course more movies had to be made.

Halloween III: Season of the Witch (1982)

No Michael Myers in this film and the storyline to this movie was boring and dumb, in the trash this movie goes. The 2 rating is for how laughable this movie is.

Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers (1988)

A fun movie to nitpick at all the silly things that happened in this film but still a good watch and also the atmosphere this movie has is a nice thing to see.

Halloween 5: The Revenge of Michael Myers (1989)

Not a bad movie, but could have been better. I felt this movie was all over the place and also another fun movie to nitpick at all the silly things happening throughout the movie.

Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers (1995)

The first Halloween movie that I have seen when I was young and find this movie more of a guilty pleasure for me, yea cheesy movie that goes nowhere but I love the atmosphere and Michael’s mask in this movie, it looks creepy as hell.

Halloween H20: 20 Years Later (1998)

I wish they made this film more longer since it was a good movie with a very satisfying ending. The people that made this film should of left it to here and just do remakes after instead of coming up with some dumb confusing way on how Michael survived his horrifying death.

Halloween: Resurrection (2002)

This movie wasn’t that bad but the only thing I didn’t like about this one is the beginning, a big slap in the face to some fans that’s for sure. The rest of the movie was meh, it's still watchable though.

Halloween Remake (2007)

I didn’t mind the remake but a few mistakes I think were made here:
1. Michael being the innocent bullied kid is a big no, better as a mysterious cold blooded killer that just kills people because he just feels like it.

2. This movie is better off without the white trailer trash happening in this movie, it seems like most of the characters in this movie has the personalty of being a b*tch or just plain annoying.

3. That mr sandman song at the beginning was horrible, I don't know what Rob Zombie was thinking there.

Halloween 2 Remake (2009)

Rubbish white horse trash that never should have been made, glad this was the last movie that rob zombie was doing because he’s didn’t do a good job with these movies.

Halloween (2018) and Kills coming tomorrow

Good write-ups!

The only one from the original run that I've seen recently is the first one, so I don't feel like I can rank them properly. Generally speaking, I remember Part 2 and Part 4 being quite solid, while Part 6 was always the worst for me. I never saw the Director's Cut, but I've heard it's an improvement.

H20, I've seen fairly "recently", and I always remember it being solid as well. However, the abysmal reviews for Resurrection kept me away from it. I did see the opening with Laurie and the final fight with Busta on YouTube. Good stuff.

The Rob Zombie remake is, generally speaking, a mess. The film is torn between an unnecessary and excessive first half, where he lets go all his Zombie-esque things, and a second half where he's considerably more subdued, but tied down by the shackles of being a remake. That is why I think the second one works better, because he seems to be more free to explore different things and go his own way. I really enjoyed the second one's Director's Cut.

Still haven't seen Halloween (2018) or Halloween Kills.

A nice breakdown of each movie. No version will ever beat the original.
I agree with most of your ratings but even though Halloween 3 was a bad marketing ploy I do enjoy it. Didn't rate Halloween 2018 too highly and Halloween Kills was entertaining but cheesy.
Rob Zombie entries I hated and would never go there again.
For me Halloween 2 or H20 are the best sequels.

I don't think it was meant to be a "marketing ploy". As far as I understand, it was the direction they wanted to take the franchise (different scary/horror stories centered around Halloween). It was only after the bad reception that the studio decided to bring back Michael Myers.

The trick is not minding
Nice write-ups!

I've only seen the original film, but I should get around to some of the sequels someday.
Go in order of release. And remember to keep a bottle of alcohol of your choice on hand to help erase the memories of said viewings.
After the first two original films, it becomes quite the silly franchise.

And remember to keep a bottle of alcohol of your choice on hand to help erase the memories of said viewings.
I do that for all movies I watch. As a result, I can't recall a single movie I've ever seen.

Halloween (2018)

This movie was a great follow up to the original and was enjoyable to watch. I think it was the best move by the creators of the movie to ignore the rest of the sequels and just start off fresh. Also I like how Michael is just this cold blooded killer and not needing a brain examination on why he's this way, want to know why he really does it, because he can.

Halloween Kills (2021)

I thought this was a good and entertaining movie with some brutal kills in it. The story seemed to be all over the place and some of the characters looked like a bunch of goofballs, but the film is still a fun watch.

Hopefully they kill him off in the next one and give us a good proper ending. I got a feeling there going to remove his mask and kill him since it seems like with his mask on it makes him somewhat supernatural. Who knows, will have to see when the next Halloween movie comes out.
