You can't make a rainbow without a little rain.

#36 (34.3.). Remember the Titans - 13 pts. (included in 3 lists)

Director: Boaz Yakin
Starring: Denzel Washington, Will Patton, Wood Harris, Ryan Hurst

#35 (34.2.). Pay It Forward - 13 pts. (included in 3 lists)

Director: Mimi Leder
Starring: Kevin Spacey, Helen Hunt, Haley Joel Osment, Jay Mohr

Both Remember the Titans and Pay It Forward were on my list.

I didn't know anything about Remember the Titans before watching it, but it turned out to be a very good movie.

I like Pay It Forward, but I would have preferred a different ending.

Seen it early on and found it a little "meh". It bothered me with its juvenile view of racism, even for Disney. Not Denzel's best and Hayden Pantierre was annoying as hell. Tried watching it a few times since and still feel the same way. Just must be me, a solid 5/10.

George Washington was #4 on my ballot. It's a moving, mysterious, and meandering portrait or early adolescence whose style is reminiscent of Malick. It also gives the sense that it requires several viewings to fully absorb it, making it all the more rewatchable.

The Gleaners and I was #5 on my ballot. I've only seen a couple of Varda's documentaries, but I like how, even when they shift focus away from the main subject (showing a dramatic scene of her camera lens dangling off her camera or pretending to crush trucks on the highway), they still feel like necessary components to her films and provide some insight into her personality. I can't imagine her docs without those playful scenes. I'll have to watch Varda by Agnes someday.

mrblond, can we get a full list in your original post? Updated with each new movie you post? That would be nice. Thanks.
