This is a black & white film maybe from 1940's and maybe it's American.
The husband orders assassination of his wife (or mistress).
At the end of the movie the husband calls the wife to hear the assassination live. In the conversation the husband finds out that the reason he ordered the assassination is not valid: the wife is innocent.
In the call the wife says there's somebody at the door. The husband advises the wife to escape immediately because there is a killer. He advises her to shout help from the window.
The husband then hears gunshots in the phone.
