Should we assume it’s a French movie?

It is not a French movie.

I was going to say Before Sunset, but you said it’s not French.

It was filmed in France but it is not By a French director and is in English. It's not Before Sunset.

It is one of the most famous bookstores in the world. And Strich is absolutely correct, it does figure in Linklater's Before Sunset. It is also in Julie & Julia and Midnight in Paris. Probably others, too. Since Claire didn't use a screenshot any of those three answers are correct.

I don't see anything in the rules that a screenshot is required. The answer was supposed to be Midnight in Paris.

You absolutely do not have to use a screenshot. It makes the game more challenging since you don't have the lighting and angles the filmmaker used. But if you don't use a screenshot and multiple films or television shows have used that location there will be more than one correct answer.
