Daniel Kaluuya did get more votes than his co-star and the three others for his portrayal of Black Panther Chairman Fred Hampton in Judas and the Black Messiah. He is the sixth black actor to win in this category, and the first British-born. He joins Louis Gossett Jr. (An Officer and a Gentleman), Denzel Washington (Glory), Cuba Gooding Jr. (Jerry Maguire), Morgan Freeman (Million Dollar Baby), and Mahershala Ali (Moonlight and Green Book).

I always forget he's British. He was talking before the ceremony about using a dialect coach for Judas and the Black Messiah, and man, did it pay off. Makes a great performance even more impressive, with that added layer of difficulty.
