Severely underrated actor...loved him in LA Confidential, Home for the Holidays, and Nomadland

If you have never seen his work with John Sayles check it out, especially Matewan, Limbo, Passion Fish, and Eight Men Out. Plus his Oscar nominated turn as Edward R. Murrow in Clooney's Good Night, and Good Luck of course. I'll be happy if he pulls another nom for Nomadland.

I think his role in Nomadland is a little thankless to get him an Oscar nomination.

It's a small role for sure, screentime wise, but it was a year with so few eligible movies he may make it. Frances most certainly will, obviously, but I think Strathairn has a legit if outside shot.
