A Song For October

Tools

Yods and Seds both rejoin us while pahaK sits this one out (hopefully yer man upstairs hasn't decided to take a bottle of wodka into the shower again)....
Oops, I just forgot that I didn't post a nomination when I did my votes.

My R12 nom:
Plastic Machine - Elle S'Imagine (Night version)

A system of cells interlinked
1 Amorphis - Silver Bride - Love this band. Love this tune.

2 Aretha Franklin - (You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman - Total classic from a legendary singer.

3 Big Data - Dangerous - That bass line is the ****. Good stuff, overall. Meanwhile, wtf did I just watch?!

4 The Zombies - Time of the Season - Groovy, man.

5 Eddie Murphy - Party all the Time - Pretty fun track from Eddie.

6 Liz Callaway - Once Upon A December - I don't think I have seen this flick, Will have to check it out soon.

7 Chris Knight - Down The River - Fairly less annoying Country tune. A bit long, though.

8 China Dolls - The Dog Song - Kind of funny.

9 The Specials - Ghost Town - I have trouble connecting with songs that have a reggae groove for some reason.

10 Billy Strings - Watch It Fall - Nope

This being bluegrass reminds me to ask: did you listen to the new Sturgill bluegrass album?
I didn't even know that he'd put out a bluegrass album. I suck at keeping up with new releases and music news in general. I'll probably give it a listen within the next week (or maybe over the weekend so I can nominate something from it since Sedai and honeykid are surely begging for more bluegrass).

I still haven't watched that anime thing Sturgill has on Netflix either.

Round 11

1. Billy Strings - Watch It Fall
(Bluegrass will never be mainstream, but I think this ridiculously talented twentysomething, a savant at picking strings and a solid songwriter to boot, could be the catalyst for younger generations to reassess their opinions of this so-called old-fogey music. Bluegrass legend and pioneer Earl Scruggs is the most famous person to ever hail from my neck of the woods, so I'm predisposed to this sound anyway.)

2. The Zombies - Time of the Season
(One of the coolest songs ever recorded. Who's your daddy?)

3. Aretha Franklin - (You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman
(Right back at ya, @jiraffejustin. )

4. The Specials - Ghost Town
(Eerie and catchy. Could also double as a soundtrack for our current pandemic.)

5. Chris Knight - Down the River
(Love the storytelling. Don't love the monotony.)

6. Big Data - Dangerous
(Hard to pay attention to the song when I'm watching one of the greatest music videos ever made.)

7. Amorphis - Silver Bride
(Grew on me as it went along. Kinda feel like putting hammer to steel like a badass blacksmith. Instead I'll probably just visit the Skyforge in Whiterun like a not so badass geek.)

8. China Doll - The Dog Song
(Disturbingly ebullient, like a dystopian pop song from hell.)

9. Eddie Murphy - Party All the Time
(At least he later redeemed himself with Norbit.)

10. Liz Callaway - Once Upon a December
(What's the ear equivalent of a rectal prolapse?)
