Was '78 kind of a down year?

10. Up In Smoke

9. Piranha

8. Watership Down

7. Animal House

6. Drunken Master

5. The Deer Hunter

4. The 36th Chamber of the Shaolin

3. Dawn of the Dead

Autumn Sonata is the only movie I love from 1978, but Grease, Pretty Baby, and Heaven Can Wait are decent too.

The trick is not minding
Grease surprisingly holds up for me. Was pleasantly surprised.
Halloween and Superman are great.
The Deer Hunter was great, but not a film I would revisit often. Seen it twice 20 years apart.
Heaven Can Wait is ok. Beatty often looked lost in it. Couldn’t stand his open mouthed facial expressions.

My Top 10 favorite films from 1978:

1) The Silent Partner
2) A Wedding
3) Empire of Passion
4) The Deer Hunter
5) Same Time, Next Year
6) Days of Heaven
7) Autumn Sonata
8) Pretty Baby
9) Interiors
10) Grease
