Very confident I’ll find the answer here. I’m looking for a film about a young man who’s boarded a ship embarking on a voyage to the “far end of the world.” Which is sort of the title, it’s based in the 1800s. He’s a product of the aristocracy & off to manage or govern a plantation or province for his grandfather, something. The captain & crew are a sorry lot & take aim at an outspoken preacher onboard. It aired on PBS, Masterpiece perhaps? At least a decade or so ago. Anyone?

I think it was on PBS. It was about a boy who was getting in trouble at home so they sent him on the ship with his grandfather (or some sort of relative) to "keep him out of trouble".
