FINAL ROUND

1. Jaime Wyatt - Misery and Gin

2. Tanya Tucker - The Wheels of Laredo

3. Redbone - Come and Get Your Love

4. Postmodern Jukebox ft. Haley Reinhart - Creep

(This is from one of the rounds I missed. Talk about making a song your own! I got literal goosebumps listening to this. I used to watch American Idol (don't judge me!) and Haley was one of my all-time favorite contestants. What little I've heard of her solo career hasn't done much for me, but her voice is incredible, especially when she throws in that sexy rasp. She would've likely been a massive star if she'd been born a few decades earlier.)

5. The Secret Sisters - He's Fine

6. Champaign - How 'Bout Us

7. Sam & Dave - Hold On, I'm Coming

8. Smashing Pumpkins - Bullet with Butterfly Wings

9. Horse Party - Animal

10. Dorothy - Raise Hell

11. Miranda Lambert - Gunpowder & Lead

12. Betty Davis - Anti Love Song

(The other song I missed. Don't love it, mostly because it's more spoken than sung, but that bass is funky as hell and the song exudes sweaty sex appeal.)

13. Dire Straits - Walk of Life

14. DMX - X Gon Give It To Ya

15. Johnny Mathis - 99 Miles from L.A.

Weird is relative.
Final Round:

1. Postmodern Jukebox and Haley Reinhart - Creep

I also first discovered Haley Reinhart when she was competing on American Idol, and I've known of this cover since its release. It was a pleasant surprise to be reminded of it with the nomination here. Love the original song, love Haley and her version, and Postmodern Jukebox is a pretty cool musical group.

2. Redbone - Come and Get your Love

I was a big fan of the first Guardians of the Galaxy!

3. The Smashing Pumpkins - Bullet with Butterfly Wings

4. Miranda Lambert - Gunpowder and Lead

5. Horse Party - Animal

6. Betty Davis - Anti Love Song

Horse Party and Betty Davis were new to me, and they're now artists I'll enjoy going back to...

7. DMX - X Gon Give It To Ya (Uncensored)

8. Dorothy - Raise Hell

Dorothy was another "new to me." I didn't like the music video - wasting food makes me cringe - but the song is fun and has attitude. I've added it to my YouTube playlists.

9. Sam & Dave - Hold On, I'm Coming

10. Tanya Tucker - The Wheels of Laredo

11. Jaime Wyatt - Misery and Gin

Added the two above to my country playlist!

12. Dire Straits - Walk Of Life

13. Johnny Mathis - 99 Miles From LA

14. Champaign - How 'Bout Us

15. The Secret Sisters - He's Fine

I didn't dislike anything here in the last ranking tunes. The final song listed isn't really my thing, but I thought the others are decent.

Thanks Chyp, looking forward to the next tournament!

Congrats to all that got songs through to the final and well done John-Connor on narrowly taking down the win with a well loved classic from Sam & Dave.

Thanks again to all that took part, I hope it provided a little enjoyment here and there over the month.

*Cue a comment at some point from @Sedai bemoaning maintaining a 100% record of not voting in the Final

Next one probably in September for those that might be interested.

Good going on winning the tourney, @John-Connor
Great choice. You picked a terrific song - a real classic-.and I was ready to vote for it in the early round, even before I joined the tourney.

Congratulations !!!

@John-Connor, Congratulations on the win!

@Chypmunk, Thanks for running a great tournament. Even though most of my songs came in last, I think I prefer this method of ranking the songs over the other method with the matches. This was a great idea.

Glad you enjoyed the format gbg, both If You're Ever In My Arms and The Cowboy Rides Away were not that far away from making the Final so it wasn't quite all 'doom and gloom' for your nominations.
