MoFo Top 100 Horror Movies: The List

I think the first time I really took notice of Mulholland Drive was when I saw the diner scene on a "scariest movie scenes ever" list (think it was top 3 along with the shower scene from Psycho and the last scene of Carrie - can't remember the exact order, though) so I watched the embedded YouTube clip and even that was enough to freak me out (much less watching it properly on a larger screen) so I couldn't deny its high ranking. Not entirely sure if Eraserhead quite matches that, but it comes close enough and - more importantly - consistently maintains that sense of dread in a way that isn't off-set by the kind of humour or beauty or whatever else that characterises your "average" Lynch film.

I thought so, not so sure now as we're getting into top ten.

I'm wondering if the older classics like King Kong and Dracula will make it at this point. I really expected them to.

I don't think King Kong will. I don't think a lot of us relate to it as horror.

Never seen King Kong in a horror section....

Return of the Living Dead was an honourable mention.
