I'm pretty sure we're not going to get much help from Holden, so, the bottom shot looks animated so I', going to go with a director of a darker animated film and say Richard Linklater?

The guy looks familiar but that's not his natural hair color, looks a little like Tom Hulce, but I don't think so and have no idea what the movie is.
