Longest time between a movie and the next sequel.

With the news of The Ghostbusters making a third movie a full 30 years after the second movie, I started thinking about the longest length of time between a movie and a sequel (or the next sequel like with Ghostbusters).

I think that Ghostbusters would come in third behind Mary Poppins (56 year gap) and The Wicker Man/The Wicker Tree (38 year gap).

Can y'all think of any other 30+ year gaps?

Wasn't 2005's War of the Worlds a remake, not a sequel? It depends on whether you count Disney's direct to video sequels to Bambi (64 years), Cinderella (52 years) and The Jungle Book (36 years). There's also 1998's sequel to 1968's "The Odd Couple."

Poppins is '64, so 2018 for Returns was 54 years.
Ghostbusters 3 would only be 33 years if it's true that they're going for a 2020 release.
Blade Runner was 1982, with the sequel in 2017 on a 35 gap.

But yeah, Average Joe has it... Bambi 2 was 63 years after the original.

2nd place is Fantasia 2000... 59 years after the original.

3rd place is surprising as not many have even heard of it: Scarlett... a sequel to Gone With The Wind in 1994, 54 years after Gone With The Wind.

We've gone on holiday by mistake
Tron springs to mind 28 years.

Star Wars episode 6 and 7 have a 32 year gap.
