2018 was a great year. Which one was your favorite movie?

Many Movies did a great job at the Box Office. Some broke many records and some fell hard. But this cycle keeps on going. It is a new year and we will see new stories in the form of movies.

In my point of view, KGF was a thriller. I would rate it 4.5

It was certainly better than the last two years. I guess people are slowly getting tired of Marvel/DC rubbish. I am still holding out of A Star is Born and Roma. Vice i will watch today. So i might have a better answer later in the week.

What is KGF by the way?

Welcome to the human race...
If the numbers on Infinity War and Aquaman are anything to go by, people aren't slowing down on Marvel/DC anytime soon.

Anyway, I pick Mandy.

Was Aquaman that good? The reviews were mixed from all that i have read. Venom was widely panned from what i hear. I wanted to spend 2018 Marvel/DC free (I am yet to see Black Panther ). I have a lot of catching up to do in that regard!

Welcome to the human race...
Doesn't matter, they're still making enough bank that it definitely doesn't sound like people are tired of them.

That being said, I found Aquaman mildly enjoyable and would give it a high
. which would be on about the same level as A Star is Born and superior to Vice (and Venom).

im gonna go with Mission Impossible, and Annihilation

I prefer Deadpool 2 out of all the superhero movies that came out in 2018.

This might just do nobody any good.
Spider-Verse is easily the best in its genre from last year.

Anyways, I say Roma is my #1 with First Man close behind. Admittedly I haven’t seen too many 2018 movies.

Damn... I have to watch this soon. I wanted to keep it for the end, but the wait and the feedbacks are just making me feel like I am missing out

Weird is relative.
My obscure choice: The Wild Boys. Most people won't like this, or even bother watching it, but I thought it was a near masterpiece.

My Top 10 Favorite films of 2018 from what I've seen so far:

The Other Side of the Wind (preferably partnered with the documentary They'll Love Me When I'm Dead)
The Favourite
Mandy
Under the Silver Lake
Roma
The Ballad of Buster Scruggs
First Man
Isle of Dogs
The House That Jack Built
Loro

I agree that 2018 has been an amazing year for cinema. It's been a long time since I've loved so many films from one particular year. The first five are pretty interchangeable, while the bottom five are pretty much in order. Loro of course suffers a bit because I've only seen the International Cut. Therefore it was a bit more unbalanced.

Here are some of the most promising 2018 films I still need to watch:

The Man Who Killed Don Quixote (Terry Gilliam)
Shoplifters (Hirokazu Koreeda)
BlacKkKlansman (Spike Lee)
Cold War (Pawel Pawlikowski)
High Life (Claire Denis, looks very promising)
In Fabric (Peter Strickland)
Climax (Gaspar Noé)
Suspiria (Luca Guadagnino)
Burning (Chang-dong Lee)
Ash is Purest White (Zhangke Jia)
Shadow (Yimou Zhang)
Vox Lux (Looks promising)
A Star is Born (Looks promising)
Bad Times at the El Royale (Looks pretty cool)

Feel free to elaborate on on of these films if you've seen one. I'd love to read some more opinions about them.

“Sugar is the most important thing in my life…”
Here I thought 2018 paled in comparison to 2017, but apparently I'm wrong. Mandy and Eighth Grade are the only movies that will stick with me. I'm sure Thunder Road would have , but I'm actively fighting having to pay-per-stream a movie.
