Why are NC-17 movies still a problem for theaters?

The difference is between erotica and porn, essentially. The difference is usually described as "penetration".

Erotica is o.k. because it arouses emotions, but, not usually, pure physical arousal. Most people are more than happy to be physically aroused in the privacy of their own home, but are unwilling to physically aroused in the presence of dozens or scores of strangers. In fact, in many places, I think that there are still laws against such obvious arousal in such places.

But movies like The Fifty Shades of Grey series went to theaters, which have penetration and people still went to see it not caring it was a publc place. Why is that, for movies like that? I guess I don't see the distinction, when they are still going to movies with penetration and arousal in them.

On screen penetration? Not where you know that it is happening, but where the actual penetration act is on the screen.

Oh yeah, but there are several NC-17 movies that people will not see without any actual penetration happening, so why does that affect them as oppose to R rated sex scenes? Showgirls was NC-17 even though there was no penetration.

But why doesn't any adults want to see an NC-17 movie? I mean kids like the idea of seeing an R rated movie, right? So wouldn't people at the age of 18 be keen on the idea of seeing an NC-17 one?
People want to see over the top superhero movies, which for me i just had enough of, but guess what aquaman was just released and avenger s end game is coming, and captain marvel is coming aswell....jesus
