The website They Shoot Zombies, Don't They? might be of use to some of you. It's modeled after They Shoot Pictures, Don't They?, the invaluable resource that attempts to list the 1000 greatest films by piling together reputable lists from a multitude of institutions, filmmakers and critics, except They Shoot Zombies attempts to list the 1000 greatest horror movies. I don't pay any attention to the rankings and there's plenty of "really?!" entries, but the list is still a useful resource for both die-hard fans of the genre and the uninitiated. (A Letterboxd version of the same list.) Of course, some of the entries, like Jaws and Silence of the Lambs, aren't eligible for the countdown.

Just a shout out for Misery (1990)... on IMDb it's not tagged under Horror.
I had it voted for, but it's not eligible.
No tag, no vote.

I had to find a replacement.

Bit crap, but, hey, it's not on IMDB, it's not part of the rules.

Don't vote for Misery!

It's @Jase on the phone talking about sequels, Oh Gawd. Don't skip Psycho II (1983).

The lack of Slumber Party Massacre 3 on this list is very disappointing truly a timeless classic

Welcome to the human race...
yeah I'm not about to take recs on what constitutes a good horror sequel from someone who thinks Evil Dead II sucks and Halloween 5 doesn't

Don’t listen to him. He’s ashamed of himself for BREATHING (it offends asthmatics).

He listed one of my favourite Friday the 13ths. I'd take his recs.

Which one? The third would be in the top half of my ranking while Manhattan would be in the bottom half.
Actually, he's mentioned two of my favs then. I'm very fond of Jason Takes Manhattan (I know it's not generally a favourite among most fans, but some do see it as an underrated edition.)

Evil Dead II isn't a bad film. As I get older, I like it more.

But I do like Halloween 5: The Revenge of Michael Myers much more.

WAAAAAAAAY better than that new Jamie Lee Curtis/David Gordon Green/Danny McBride pretentious thing.

I really liked the new one. Bummer you didn't
Aesthetically, I didn’t like it. It felt like a cheap knockoff of a film. It lacked passion. It exists just to collect money from nostalgic fans.

I'd say the ONE thing the film did not lack was passion.

Is that the one we watched way back when? With the lip girl?

Yes. The woman who exploded.
