Literary Cinema and Old Movies

Talking old films and early cinema.. the styling is beautiful... yes things have advanced greatly but still to see early films is just mindblowing

to look at this clip... I mean.. this is one of the first times celluloid was used.. to see frame by frame... amazing...

it may be clunky frame by frame compared to today's high definition and digital quality... but this is the beginning.. this is what it started out as... and so much advancement over the next 90 years... .where will cinema be 100 years from now? Will we still feel the same way?

I agree with the opening statement until it says that film or movies will replace all the other arts. One example is the difference between a novel and a film. In a movie the screen writer, the director, the actors, etc. have read the novel and have interpreted according to their perspective, attracting an audience, recovering their money and then some, etc.. Sometimes you end up with art, but many times the target audience of a movie is as broad as possible, whereas the novel might have been directed to a niche audience. They may take a great piece of art and water it down to appeal to the least common denominator. A good novel writer allows your own imagination to picture the story as well, or in many cases, better than the movie. One example is The Unbearable Lightness of Being. There was a lot of narration about what the Unbearable Lightness of being consisted of. Many times narration does not work in a film as well as in a novel. That resulted in the movie relying on its erotic context, without explaining the unbearable Lightness being at all.
