going to be banned for making a very badly timed joke in reference to another member's past grievance with me.

getting kind of catty in pm now with the mod, but, they gotta do what, they gotta do.

Wicker sorry, man. Carry the torch if you want. No need to compeltely derail the proceedings here.

You mean on the Voice Thread? I didn't hear your voice recording. But generally Yoda doesn't ban people for having little arguments, if he did everyone on the board would be banned. So just chill, and stay!

Survivor 5s #2 Bitch
I'm also guilty of watching stuff totally different from what I said I was going to because I've just watched The Child instead of The Burning like I said

I managed to sum up my thoughts without spoiling it so here goes

THE CHILD

I didn't know what to expect going into this, I thought it would be a slapstick, schlock kinda gig. But it was genuinely creepy and eerie for a good portion of the film. The music did this film so many favours in glossing over the glaring budget issues because had it been absent, it would have been a very different experience, and a much worse one.

That's not to say it didn't have its problems with its budget, because it did for me. Whilst most B movies use their limited amount of coin to their favour, this struggled because of it with the exception of the soundtrack. The acting and dubbing were bad which removed some tension and severity in certain moments, but it wasn't awful enough to make it humorous or compelling in a tongue in cheek manner either. The same could be said of the dialogue too. The story itself was simplistic enough and easy to follow, but the actors sheer lack of experience meant I wasn't really into what happened to the characters. I can barely remember most of their names and I only saw it today. I don't know if it was just the youtube video either, but the jarring transitions and abrupt stops just before some lines were finished left it feeling kinda amateurish and a bit lazy.

The gore was quite good though, and a nice, surprising touch to what I thought was going to be quite a creepy, atmospheric focused film. It managed to implement it as well without it feeling like mood whiplash or totally out of the blue. It felt right for the scenes it was incorporated into.

It sounds like I hated this, and I must admit I doubt I'll watch it again. But this had a lot of potential, and quite a lot of positive aspects that impressed me. But whatever happened in post production, the dots just weren't connected for me to make this great as a whole. So this gets two Busey's and a Whoopi from me

I already regret doing this Hall of Fame.

I guess this is what I got myself into when I decided to enter a B-movie Hall of Fame. I know this is supposed to be a crappy film we laugh at but, oh my god, this is so bad and so good at the same time. I felt like I was having a bad dream watching this.

I mean where to start?

There's about 5 different subplots that don't have anything to do with the film. There's multiple bits where I wasn't sure if they were being purposefully bad or accidentally bad. There's barely any tomato action. All the tomatoes don't look like tomatoes. The pacing is awful, I cried in dismay when I realized I was only at the 20 minute mark.

I can't be too harsh though, it's crappy b-movie fun and all the awful elements of it is what makes it good. I remember genuinely laughing at some parts (The advertisements, 'Could you pass the ketchup?', earmuff tomato).
The camera quality reminds me of the restored edition of Manos: the Hands of Fate.

Also Bobby from Twin Peaks makes his film debut as 'boy on Boat' in this masterpiece.

Also Mars Attack totally ripped off the ending to this film.

F*ck you Mars Attack.

WE GOT MOVIE SIGN!!!
I got 3 done tonight!

"The Child"

"The Burning"

and my own "The Dragon Lives again"

3 more and then I'll get a video up here if anyone wants a quick caption review of all three films well...all I can say is it's very much "The Good, The Bad and the Ugly" though I'll let you guys decide which is which for now

THE CHILD

Oh man it's dubbed? Did not know that...It's hard to get into a movie when it's dubbed. Dubbed movies usually sound silly, but actually the actors might have been good. I wonder if it's available in it's original language with subs? @pahaK or anybody know?

I thought for sure someone would nominate Manos Just be lucky they didn't

Nah it's not dubbed. it just looks that way. it's like, 85% ADR'd someone must have forgot to pack a microphone come shoot day
it's not particularly brilliant ADR either...it's very similar to "Terror in Beverly hills"

Oh man! im pinching that off you! Pizza, booze and a bad movie...if I wasnt at work tomorrow I'd be dialling my local domino's as we speak!

Yeh basically, I'll be honest. the fact that it's majority ADR'd greatly increased my enjoyment of this film. it made it so surreal and compelling that I immediatly went and looked up Harry Novak's filmography...only to discover that a good chunk of his filmography is porn. and that of his whole filmography almost non of his horrors have ever been formally released on DVD or VHS...theres 3 collections of his porn films that are ludicrously priced on amazon for sale and "Something weird" has a few of his other films (Mainly porn) for sale on their site...but they charge nearly $20 shipping on every DVD you buy off them if your outside the states...This has made me terrifically upset.

Odds are unless Arrow video do a Collective set (Like they did with Herschell gordon Lewis) I'll never see any of the further works of Harry Novak

Just finished Night of the Creeps... so I have three watched...

Next will be Joel's nomination...

English is the original language. Doesn't dubbing mean re-recording dialogue afterwards regardless of the language? The Child just doesn't use the audio from the actual shoot but a studio recording done at different time. The quality of this dubbing, though, is horrendous

The Child is a film that deserves (and needs) a good quality remake.
