Submarine movie where adult son finds his father?

In the early 2000s I watched some kind of an American adventure movie. It was about two men joining an expedition in a submarine. They had blue uniforms that sometimes looked like an overall.

I only remember one scene there one of them, a man with long hair, has been arguing with an older man in the crew and suddenly the sub is hit by something. The older man got hurt but refused any help and his final words revealed that he was the man's father. The man seemed shocked but ran to safety.

I watched this in 2005 when Jennifer Connelly's "Dark Water" came out and this had a similar name - at first I thought it was that movie - but I can't find anything.

This movie was like a B-movie. No big actors as far as I recall.
