Halloween. With the new Halloween due out later this year, touted as a direct sequel to the original (and ignoring all the other sequels!:) it seemed an apposite time to revisit the original as babysitting duties for teenager Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis) turn into a terrifying battle for survival when escaped madman Michael Myers decides to come home for Halloween... Still a classic after all these years, Halloween has lost none of its power to scare and seems, much like 1974's Black Christmas, both very 70s and yet oddly timeless at the same time.

The Entertainer (1960)

Liked this alot, even though it's very much "of it's time". Stagey and i like that in films that have grit. John Osborne had an eye for the ordinary and the exceptional. Laurence Olivier
acts his socks of 8/10

Assault on Precinct 13 (1976)
A pearl, something so foreboding (rest of his time in prison for Napoleon?) brings a fantastic, tight, interesting and worthy performance from the cast. Carpenter was right on cue with his soundtrack. I can't fault this. 10!

I really wish Sam Rockwell would get more prominent roles. The guy can act and make you laugh that's a great combo. I loved this movie back when I first saw it. I don't really watch many coming of age movies but this one had a great cast so I had to check it out. I thought it was interesting to get Steve Carell for this movie only to have him be the one character that isn't played funny.
Just a slight aside (and i realise this is not sticking to the thread). Do you reckon that Sams never found a director that he can gel with AdamUpBxtch? The way Di Caprio or De Niro can? Honest question.

Very slow (almost bailed out), but turned into a good movie that I’m glad I finished. Joseph Gordon-Levitt excellent in his starring rôle.
I really enjoyed Stone's treatment of the Snowden saga. Of course I'm congenial to the subject matter.

If you haven't seen it, Laura Poitras made an excellent Snowden documentary called Citizen Four. It's the real deal. I'd recommend it unreservedly.

Entrails of a Virgin (1986)

Just to be clear, there ain't no virgins in this Japanese sleaze movie. A film crew are making a porn film out in the woods and staying at a cabin. There are alot of softcore sex scenes that are only remotely interesting because of how poorly the women are treated. Unfortunately for everyone involved, the dreaded demon with a giant penis is lurking with his mind on rape and mutilation. The production value of this movie wasn't the worst I've seen, but it's not far off. Same with the effects. It's pretty terrible, but there's certainly been many highly acclaimed classics that I've enjoyed less. There are some good sick scenes, but the overall stupidity erases any chance it has at being truly disturbing.

I can't help but think of the puffballs sitting on the couch tilting their heads side-to-side while you watch these movies.

Possibly, he has recognition and he has been in prominent films so I don't think it's that he just can't get big leading roles because he could probably get them if he wanted them. Part of me thinks he just likes playing quirky side characters instead of the leading man.

Twilight Zone: The Movie -

Pretty audacious to have a movie kick off with the line "Do you want to see something really scary?" and then never actually deliver on it.

The only thing scary about it is what happened behind the scenes. Awful.

Who cares? Pinku eiga titles are the best titles out there and sometimes they are descriptive while othertimes they have very little to do with the film itself.

That monster treats them much nicer, doesn't he?

Yee, it wasn't too disturbing. I don't think it was supposed to be in the first place, though. I laughed a little bit. I think it was black comedy. :P

The first and second part not only have similar names that often get confused but also were released the same year which makes it even harder to tell them apart but yeah, assuming you're talking about the first part, that is 美女のはらわた (and given your plot synopsis it is that), I agree it's not that great.

Here's what I had to say (admittedly not much) about all parts of this trilogy:

処女のはらわた [Guts of a Virgin] (1986) -

Since not too many Hisayasu Sato unseen flicks are left (some gay ones, ones with no English subtitles, some newer ones, a comedy one and a kinky Rashomon one) I'm looking for something similar. This flick wasn't similar at all. It was a weird black comedy. The wrestling scene was particularly funny. I wish this guy performed a german suplex on her and she would stay unconscious till the end of the film.

美女のはらわた [Entrails of a Beautiful Woman] (1986) -

The second part of the trilogy. A much better offering than Guts of a Virgin, although the premise is more or less the same, this flick is much better at almost everything and the main female protagonist is beyond exquisite.
拷問貴婦人 [Rusted Body: Guts of a Virgin III] (1987) -

The last in the Guts of a Virgin trilogy and a little bit better than the first one, both inferior to the great second part. There is a lot going on here. An old grandpa apparently invented a machine of sexual pleasure that electrocuts (?) people in it and somehow transmits their pleasure to the people next to them. To me it was an improved version of orgone accumulator (there even was a bloody orb visible - flat Earth theory confirmed!). Seriously, though, this also has a filthy eel torture (I will let your imagination work here) and a life or death sexual duel between two girls and a man. The climax (oops, I did it again) is super-brutal, but the girls are nice, if you know what I mean. And I'm really surprised to find quotes like these on the screen above in pinku eiga film. This looks like taken straight from Kurosawa film, or something.

Ohhhh yea baby This is my type of movie!!! I’m very hyped to watch it....oh wait is that a woman on the floor in the picture you posted...does she have hairy armpits?? That’s disgusting! I’m not watching this now, how vulgar.

Sorry if I'm rude but I'm right
I thought for a long time how to reply to this but didn't come up with any satisfying idea. So I just repped you. Cheers!

Once Upon a Time in Anatolia (2011) -

This tricky one for me. Its feel really great especially for the first two hour -or an almost as i didnt check- where the Nuri Bilge Ceylan success drawn multifacet of human characters with some tarkovskian poetic imageries. that sort of journey feel so natural right put us also in the ride with the guys even with it gloomy nature

But after they arrived back at the city the tone goes a little bit down even though there still interesting moments and revelations.

OMG I can't even finish reading that. Those poor kids and adults. I had never heard of that. Do they use the footage? Surly not.
