Can you name some underrated gems for us to watch?

AJ and I are looking for some underrated movies to watch and review on our show in the next couple of months which will be relatively light on new releases. We have a few in mind, but we're looking for suggestions because we want to make this an ongoing segment on our show.

Now! This is always a contentious topic

See, what I mean is your request for hidden gems is way too broad, you need to give some parameters as to what kind of hidden gems you are looking for.

A couple things we're thinking about:

• Disturbia
• House of Wax
• Super 8
• Mud
• The Way, Way Back

Keep in mind, we're talking about underrated (not necessarily excellent) movies. E.g., we know House of Wax isn't necessarily an objectively great film, but it has its merits and is often overlooked.

We're looking for movies that fall into 2 categories 1) underrated movies 2) hidden gems. I realize it's broad, but we're looking for a substantial number of movies to choose from.

House of Wax 2005 or the original 1953 version?

I loved The Way Way Back and Mud was pretty good too.

Could come up with more in time but just going from my favourite films I'd say these could qualify as being either underrated or hidden; or both.

Though it depends on what you're taking as the standard. I'd say all of those films would qualify in 'normal' life but here on the forum the bar for underrated or hidden is significantly higher.
