Newsflash, haters: You don't speak for everyone. Even those audience scores you guys love citing on Rotten Tomatoes (57%) and Metacritic (5.1) indicates that more people liked it, or are at least okay with it. You guys don't even speak for the majority. Like it or not, just because you yell the loudest doesn't make you right.
I think the Mickey Mouse propaganda wing is in full flow, this morning the negative reviews were way ahead of the positive on Metacritic and the score was in rapid freefall, now it has jumped back up to 5.1 and the positive reviews have equalled the bad. Seems legit.

i don t know where disney will go on from.this in the last film of the trilogy, the last scene in this film says a lot, fingers crossed...
How bizarre. I actually thought that was the last in the trilogy then realised Rogue One was something else entirely. I feel like I've been living on another planet.

If I had a steak, I would f**k it!

Yeah, Disney paid people to say it's good, but not great. Sounds logical...

Flawed for sure but so much to love. Some really sublime stuff, and better than Force Awakens by far because it was actually bold and unpredictable. You can't seem to please hardcore SW fans, they ragged on TFA for being a rehash of A New Hope and now they are bashing this one for trying new things. But that's my favorite aspect of the film: it actually evolves the mythology and central storyline, has immense emotional and thematic relevance, and made some characters immensely more complex (notably, in my opinion, Kylo ren).

I thought the Rey/Luke/Kylo stuff was unbelievably top-tier Star Wars. It was really some special stuff. Unfortunately, it overshadowed the Finn/Po/Rose stuff considerably. That storyline was okay. I didn't hate it too bad, and am not anti-Casino-scene mainly because that part does tie into the themes well. I think that storyline could have been done differently, maybe executed better, but I still applaud Johnson with making even the "worst" scene (Casino) still relevant somehow.

So yeah, a lot of unnecessary hate, and I think how we perceive this film will rely a lot on the bookend chapters. How the next film resolves everything will definitely have impact. But I don't think the third entry will have the highs this one has - two times I got serious goosebumps, which hasn't happened during a film in a LONG time. Last Jedi is an oddball film, but it definitely has complexity and brings us back to the "anyone can do great things" theme that the series started with, and is possibly the best thing about the entire franchise (my favorite scene in the series and one of my faves of all time is Luke looking at the two suns).

After the original trilogy (because I will be amazed if any other entry ever tops that first trilogy), this is my favorite Star Wars film. Mainly because the prequels suck, and TFA and Rogue One are meh.

No it has a load of people sat at computers giving it 10" to boost the score back up and cancel out the bad reviews by fans.

Not really sure I follow this. In my theater, Luke probably got the three biggest cheers/responses of the entire film..
Were they cheering when he was breastfeeding that thing, or when he faded away to nothing. I enjoyed some of the Luke/Rey stuff, the Yoda scene and what Luke did at the finale just not what happened afterwards.

I enjoyed that it was a new idea, rather than another totally interchangeable dog fight between X-wings and tie fighters. Would another one of those really have been better? At this point, there's no reason to make these films unless you're going to base this kind of stuff on some new angle beyond "we're providing nebulous support so somebody can blow up a shield generator." So yeah, I'm really glad they're actually canonizing the differences between ships so that the films can depict actual fleet strategy, in this film, and going forward. That allows for the possibility of victories through clever moves, rather than "we X-winged better than they tie-fought."
New idea but a bad idea. What I meant earlier when I said it doesn't stand up to soft scrutiny was why don't some of the following ships hyperjump ahead of the Rebels, or have another fleet jump in ahead if you are talking simple strategy. Like a group of writers hasn't sat down and really thought some of the stuff through.

Would I rather have a long dogfight? No, thinking back to ESB what works so well is you have a battle on Hoth then the Rebels/leaders and fleets are put aside until the final few minutes of the film. So what would have worked better I think would have been to forget about the whole fleet scene altogether and have a more personal story, more time with Rey/Luke then another plot with Leia, Po, Finn and BB8 on some sort of caper looking for allies etc. I'm not asking for a ESB remake here but I just think the whole fleet chase thing was a bad idea. So what I'm saying is put away the toys for this movie until it's time for the final battle vs First Order.

I was not. I do have complaints about that segment, but they're more to do with pacing. I loved loved loved the opening casino shot, it was a better "this is our Mos Eisley" than The Force Awakens had (where it was too on the nose). But I wanted that to be the part of the film that required subtlety, where they would have to spend a little time there sussing things out.
The opening shot was great, what followed was simply dull. Again comparing with Empire we have a similar thing happen in Cloud city, but interesting things happen after, Lando interesting dynamic with Han, then the whole Leia Han Lando flirting thing just as Han and Leia's romance is kicking off. Basically interesting stuff goes down, not in TLJ though.

Again when you scrutinise what you just said it doesn't hold up.

Comparison on RT (user scores)

TLJ - 57%, av rating 3.3/5 (same score on both counts as Attack of the Clones)
Justice League - 79%, av rating 4.1
B vs S - 63%, av rating 3.5
Phantom Menace - 59%, av rating 3.3
Man of Steel - 75%, av rating 3.9
Matrix Revolutions - 60%, av rating 3.4

So it's scores on RT suggest it is doing as bad as or worse than all the big franchise turkeys that we've had in recent years.

i have to say on one can top the darth vader screen presence in the first trilogy, it just gives it the edge to be ahead of other trilogies, but great effort in keeping this trilogy on the same tone as the originals, and some scenes were very satisfying, and character development was there in many characters

Star Wars Fans aren't a good barometer of anything. I think they enjoyed hating the prequels more than they enjoyed liking the originals.
You're absolutely right. I can't help but notice their reactions, but I don't take it into consideration for my own enjoyment.

Same. And that's the way it should be.

This might just do nobody any good.

Was I the only one who noticed some inspiration from Michael Kamen's 'Brazil' Score at 0:59?

The Millennial SJW.

In fact, you could go so far as to say she gets...

Saw it yesterday and liked it overall, but couldn't help but be a little disappointed in some regards.

The best thing in this movie was definitely Kylo Ren. His constantly conflicting emotions and the scenes with Rey really expanded on his character. The last third or so of the film was great, the final battle/standoff was really fun and had some really memorable moments. Also, of course, seeing Luke Skywalker again is amazing, and I also liked how he acts quite differently than you expect him to after the ending of TFA.

My biggest gripe by far is the Finn/Rose side story. I'm sorry but I had zero interest in their whole codebreaker mission. I even timed my bathroom break so I went during a Finn/Rose scene so I wouldn't miss anything from the other storylines. And Bencio Del Toro's character—my god—if there was ever a prime example of a walking, talking plot device, it was him. I thought Rose had a good start with the whole beginning sequence with her sister leading into introducing her, but after that not much else was that great about her.

There also really wasn't anything I thought was that "surprising" that happened throughout the movie. Hearing all the hype of "it isn't what you expect" I thought there was gonna be something that really would've wowed me... but nope, everything that happened in the movie I thought "well I figured that was gonna happen anyway". Even though I did like Luke in this, I was hoping that he would have had a more "epic" moment than what actually happened.

Lastly, I'm in the boat who think
WARNING: "Last Jedi" spoilers below
Kylo was lying about Rey's parents. The delivery of the line was so anti-climatic that I didn't buy it for a second. I feel that Kylo was just saying that to get her emotionally vulnerable so she would join him in his new movement or whatever. I still feel like they are related in some way, especially when they were "connected with the force" and talking to each other, because I'll say it again IT JUST DOESN'T MAKE SENSE FOR REY TO BE SO POWERFUL IF SHE'S A NOBODY. If it's true that she really is a nobody, then why isn't there other random people connecting with them through the force if anybody can randomly have ridiculous Jedi powers?
I feel like with Abrams directing the third film that this would be answered better, since it almost seemed like Johnson was going out of his way to sabotage much of what was set up in TFA.

Overall, I gave it a
. I definitely liked it, but didn't love it. Overall, I liked Force Awakens and Rogue One better.
