How do you watch movies without getting into 'trouble'?

Tools

This question pops into my head recently. Often, life doesn't allow us to receive enough amount of time to spend on watching movies. The reason could vary as the followings:
- family responsibilities
- professional work, we all need to work hard and make money
- health issues
- other life interests

Since you all are movie buffs, how do you cope with those 'good and bad reasons' that stop you from watching movies? How do you arrange your time when your role in life is changing, for example: becoming a parent?

I love my family, and I wish I don't have to work that much. But I have probably only saw 1 movie in the past month. And I miss watching movies, even if it's a bad movie like John Wick 2.

For people here with any good wisdom, how do you find the perfect balance?

What a great question .

Looking back, I did the bulk of my movie watching when I was growing up and in my teens, when I had a lot of time. That probably means that I'm more out of touch with the films of the last 10–15 years.

Now, it's not necessarily that I don't have the time but I have to be in the mood. So it's usually spontaneous. I'll bank things to watch and sometimes keep them for ages until the right moment comes along. As a rule I don't like watching things on broadcast either.

One of the best examples of this is being at a loose end a few Christmases ago. I had The Count of Monte Cristo with Alan Badel, which I hadn't yet seen, and it was perfect for passing time, being in 30-minute episodes.

Nowadays, the only thing stopping me is me. I try to watch a movie early, since chances are that I'll procrastinate. I think it might be the lack of excitement, since I think I've watched most of the great movies already, so I have to take more chances, which might cause me to retread a bit.

Luckily for me, I just found "Payday" after wanting to see it for more than a year (YouTube)... Hopefully that desire will give me the energy to check out something new, since I try to watch a movie I never saw before.

I usually do most of my movie viewing after the kids go to bed and occasionally on Sundays, I will spend most of the day watching films. If I have to watch a screener to prep for a review and interview (for deadlines), I will watch them after I get home from my day job.

That's a great question; my late teens to my late 20s were my prime movie watching years; especially when I was working at Blockbuster.

Now as a (somewhat) adult, I usually watch movies late at night during the week - after the wife has gone to sleep - but this usually ends up with me falling asleep as well. The weekends now are usually my prime real estate for movie watching.

I'm the opposite. I wake up a stupid oclock and end up having a coffee and watching amovie then falling asleep.

I think right now the only avenue I am unable to, or very rarely get to is actually going to a movie theater to watch a movie.
In my younger days, I would practically go nearly every day. An evening show, right after work when I worked days, or a matinee when I had an evening job and would rent movies at local rental places for older stuff.

Nowadays, with an afternoon shift, I have understanding bosses that know I watch after all paperwork is done and it doesn't get in the way of the rest of my work. I also check out things at night (after midnight) when I get home. And normally, we'll put in a "sleeper" when it starts getting late and we're both getting sleepy. A "sleeper" is something we've seen dozens of times from our collection or a tv show on Neftlix we've seen a few times and don't mind drifting off to.
Of course, some of our "sleepers" we'd try to start in the middle or farther so we can ACTUALLY see the ending which a lot of times ends up kinda new for us.

A film a day keeps the Doctor away. As well as a social life apparently. I guess you have to to decide which is more important. I made my decision long ago

I'm 27 and work at a movie theater, so being able to see movies for free means I get to see a lot more than if I had to pay for it. I'm also not scheduled every day, so I spend most of my nights that I'm not out or have to get up early, watching my movies then. I'm a night owl, so having one on just relaxes me, plus it allows me to focus on the film entirely. Sometimes I don't fall asleep though so I'm a zombie the next day, but they're my passion so I'm used to it.

How do you watch movies without getting into 'trouble'?

I always wear at least one prophylactic and have a morning-after pill on stand-by just in case.

Sounds like a fun night.

I don't watch TV, so I watch a movie at night instead.
For me this was the case for countless years. However, lately I have been watching a lot more "TV" (Stranger Things, Purchase of London, etc.) due to a lack of independent movies in theaters, so it is about half and half.

I have been debating on switching back entirely to disks at the suggestion of someone on the forum... also due to net neutrality.

Bright light. Bright light. Uh oh.

Are you a hermaphrodite?

I would say fun is relative but I'm sure I'd only get accused of incest

Are you a hermaphrodite?
No, just a responsible adult that tries to cover every base (especially if the lady is amenable)
