I was hoping to draw you out with that piece of cheese.

Shadow of War just seems like an exercise in how to bog down an action game in menus.
Damnn. The menu bloat & kit clutter does sound pretty dire. Can you not turn all the UI off and just do cartwheels in their general direction?

I bought a new wheel for Horizon 3 and it;s never been out of the box. It's PS4 compatible though, so when I eventually buy GT I'll give it a try but I think the days of being serious about driving games are behind me. Horizon 3 has shown that you can have something which is mechanically deep but pick-up-and-play and totally at home with a gamepad. GT used to be like that.

iRacing is fantastic but I have no interest in it and no small part of the feeling is because I've always treated these big console racing games like Pokemon - collect as many cars as possible.

I've not even checked. I think that my time with this game will be on PC - Don't know if the PS4 version is similar but Shadow of War looks rough AF on Xbox and the framerate is pretty gloopy.

Bah, that's a shame. Does seem to be pitching for some nigh-GTA scale (large NPC populations, 'cityscapes', aerial 'vehicles', big open world, big audio requirements etc etc). Not surprised a lot has to give on the bone I guess :/

I'm not tempted to see how Elite plays, thankfully.

It's great on PS4 now that I've figured out that the server disconnects were totally coming from my end - I'd been running the internet to the console through a powerline plug (and not noticed anything untoward with other games) and was losing connection to the Frontier server every 20 minutes. I swapped the PS4 to wireless and haven't had a crash since.

Must have been something to do with the game calling home every few minutes.

Dying Light had a $400,000 special edition which included an actual bunker to live in.

I think the only special editions I've bought which have been significantly more expensive than the base game were Forza 3 and 4, which I made a profit on when I sold them on, even after redeeming all their included codes.

I had a feeling there would be an even greater absurdity.

The MGS V restart went about like I thought.
After finally updating the system, the game, the psn, checking my cornucopia of psn messages from randos...I started my save and quickly realized what a mistake that was.

No clue what the F was going on. I'm going to have to do a compelete restart.

Really wish that River City Ransom game was on psn.

P.E.

Then I remembered I quit playing because of this game's "arrow 2 the knee",
the repetitive nature.

I bought this because it on Steam and there was a massive discount. I've seen clips of it and it looks incredibly fun

Is Mass Effect Andromeda that bad? I saw it listed for $13 and I don't think it's been out for a year.

The People's Republic of Clogher
Calling it Mass Effect: The TV Movie, is too much of a compliment.

It's poorly written, dull and doesn't look great. The combat's kinda fun but the whole package is so deathly boring and hollow (they've patched out the funny bugs by now) that it's not worth sticking around for. I bought it cheap and put 25 hours into it.

$13 is probably a fair price (I think I paid 20) as long as you check your expectations at the airlock.

I'll put my rose-colored glasses on, squint and imagine it's the Dead Space IV I'll never play.

The People's Republic of Clogher
I've seen a few videos on Gran Turismo Sport now and ..... that game looks like the weirdest, most pretentious thing I've seen all year and, as I'm heading towards my 4th ending in Nier Automata, I feel qualified to talk about both things.

I'm totally sold!

Will report back whenever the game has banned me for 'looking bad' (their words) in front of other players.

Don't forget to report your findings on the final Nier ending, the porno.

I tried to play Project cars for a while yesterday and I remember why I quit playing it. I think I've clocked over an 2 hours on the game clock and I'm still racing gokarts.

That's fine and it's a fun enough game, but lacks the GT hook of one more race, 3000 more credits, now I can get that sweet Polo.

The People's Republic of Clogher
Yeah, Project Cars seemed amazing if you were serious about Sim Racing but there wasn't the variety to keep me hooked for very long. Have you tried Driveclub? I got the lend of a friend's copy and it seemed fine - good variety of cars, manageable handling - but not enough for me to buy a copy.

Man, GT Sport looks so weird! There's an in-game museum devoted to TAG Heuer!

I have always believed Kaz and Hideo are the same person.

It explains a lot.

The People's Republic of Clogher
They're still two of the most recognisable auteur game directors working in the industry and both come from the 'money is no object and the game will get released whenever we say it's ready' school, which is getting harder and harder for the people who hold the purse strings to justify.

I mean, GT Sport has 10GB of free DLC already and it's all in the form of picture backdrops for the game's photo mode.

10GB of jpegs...

Damn, definitely don't go for Dirt Rally then. We're talking like 20 races before you can upgrade your race car's engine... and you're highly unlikely to win until you get it...

Game is cruel!

(I get my little victories where I can. By messing up the AI's race )
