How many times have you walked out of theatre out of disgust for movie

Tools

1996 - Lone Star - didn't know at the time it would become one of my favorites
1997 - Smilla's Sense of Snow - tedious stuff
2007 - Into the Wild - when Vince Vaughn showed up, all credibility lost (even though I like VV), also didn't care about main character. Big deal.
2013 - Nebraska - wanted to walk out but stuck through it. Much better on home video

But that only works on the assumption that critics have good taste. The truth is many of them don't. I read reviews beforehand as well, but only to get a idea of what the movie is about and whether or not I would personally enjoy it. I sure as hell don't pay attention to the rating or grade some blogger gives it, especially when it comes to horror films and comedies, the two most divisive genres.

Anyway, I walked out of the theater when I went to see Date Movie (2006). At the time I had no idea who Seltzer and Friedberg were and just thought it would be like Airplane! or something. I could only stomach about 20 minutes of that piece of garbage
I actually don't look at reviews done by critics but fans. IMDB rating usually gives me a good idea about the movie too once the movie gathers more than 1000 votes. I would choose to go to theatre if any movie has a score that is above 7.5 - this number usually works for my taste.

IMDB is iffy too in my experience. There have been movies I've loved that only got around a 5 or a 6. Hell, one of the movies in my all-time top five has a mere 6.2

Then again maybe my tastes are just odder than most people. I have a tendency to champion films that have been forgotten or gone underappreciated.

I walked out only once because i had to. I was 12 and they kicked us out from one of those Emmanuelle movie after people complaining

That's why you sit on your friend's shoulders with a trenchcoat on and a fake beard.

Or just steal softcore porn tapes from the video store like I did when I was 12.

LOL , we just snuck in because it was crowded and then sitting on the floor hiding in dark. Soon after first 15 minutes it was over for us.

6.2 and that's on your all-time top 5? Yes, it's pretty safe to say your taste is odder than most people.

Did you at least get to see some naughty bits?

you've probably got to see more of it since you watched the whole tape.. was it Emmanuelle ?
I had a few Emmanuelles, and plenty more besides. I amassed quite the collection. My modus operandi was to pretend to browse the drama section, make sure no one was looking and then shove the tapes into the large pockets of my cargo shorts. The sensors would beep, but since I would walk out with my mom or dad they just wave me through.

Unfortunately, my mom did eventually catch on and I had to return every tape and apologize to the manager. I was so embarrassed, but until that point I saw some wondrous things. Oh, I miss the days when I was young and just seeing a woman's butt sent a shiver down my spine. Now I can watch a girl being ravaged by a gang of men and turned into a soaking mess and it makes me yawn at the very most.

Why were people walking out of Bug? I really enjoyed that disturbing movie.
nd I loved the ending of The Mist but dont think I read the novel.
I know! And I'm not talking about just a few people, I want to say almost half of the people in that theater left the movie. I've never seen anything like it before. The more insane the movie got, the more people left.

I loved the ending to The Mist; people clapped when Marcia Gay Harden got shot in the head, and booed when the end happened.

That's amazing. I think the only movie I saw people leave was The Cook The Thief. Other than that it was the third LotR because people needed to pee.

I sat through the unrated version of Caligula, watched Vase de Noces, Salo, I Spit on Your Grave, and Cannibal Holocaust. Short of a certain Linda Lovelace short film involving a dog, NOTHING will make me stop watching a film due to disgust.

As for walking out of a theater, I have yet to do it. If I pay for it, I will finish it. I might hate it, but I will finish it.

I try, no matter how bad a film is, to stay to the end, but when complete apathy and boredom take hold I just have to leave. Life's too short!

Ted 2 - I loved the original, but between the first and second movies Seth MacFarlane's jokes plumbed new depths, it was just excruciating to watch.

Monsters : Dark Continent - Again great original film reduced to a real car crash of a sequel. After 45 minutes I'd had enough.

The Green Inferno - Repellent on every level!

None. For starters, I trust my instincts on what I want to invest my money in before going and two, even if I don't care much for something I'm not wasting money by walking out after paying.

I walked out of a 1976 comedy called Nickelodeon starring Burt Reynolds, Ryan O'Neal, and Tatum O' Neal.
Heh! I remember that. Don't think I ever saw it, but I remember it!
