The MoFo Top 100 Sci-Fi Films: Countdown

I haven't seen any Star Wars movies outside of the original trilogy, and I don't have any sort of grasp of their popularity.

I think Wall-E is a shoo-in. I don't see how Wreck-It Ralph makes it ahead of it.

I don't think WALL-E would make it.
Great movie... just not one people tend to think of when they talk about Sci-Fi.
That's entirely possible, but it would be quite strange having The Incredibles on the list, while not having WALL.E, which is a Sci-Fi film in a much more obvious form.

I would be shocked if Wall E doesn't make the list, especially since #100 only had 49 points. There's no way in hell Wall E didn't get at least that many. I gave it quite a few myself.

I'll do this classic update thingy too, then...

1. Her #25
2. Children of Men #20
3. Should be top 3.
4. Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind #27
5. Definitely.
6. No doubt. 1st or 2nd on the final list.
7. I would say for sure.
8. Minority Report #63
9. E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial #21
10. The Iron Giant #50
11. Definitely.

19. Same as above...
20. Ex Machina #30
21. Probably not sci-fi enough for the people...
22. Inception #24
23. The Martian #60
24. Doesn't look like it...
25. No chance. I shouldn't have counted on a one-pointer anyways. Dammit...

#1 MoFo Sci-Fi Movie... Star Wars Christmas Special

It's the most popular now. Won a HOF and is winning a film tournament.
Those are much worse indicators than a list where 79 people were able to choose from every animated film that exists. WALL.E lost by about 70 points.

Is Planet of the Apes really a shoo in. I thought that was just ok, not extraordinary.
It was #14 on the 1960s MoFo list, so its popularity shouldn't be underestimated.

I believe it won the animated tournament

The amount of participants and the amount of choices to pick from are important when judging a certain poll's representativeness.

Miss Vicky's Loyal and Willing Slave
The first double bill from my list. Two excellent films there even if they are quite different. I had Children of Men at #18. If I had reorganised my list and done it purely in terms of quality it would have been a lot higher as I think it's a phenomenal film. However there are films like They Live and Demolition Man which I wouldn't say are 'better' films but which I have more fondness for as a result of having watched them a lot more often and also just their more enjoyable nature.

And the awesome, utterly badass Total Recall was my #19. Really glad to see it place as the top Verhoeven movie on the list. Also a little surprised as I thought RoboCop appeared to have more of a following on here. You can see my review from a couple of years back here - JayDee's Total Recall review

The original (1968) should be a shoo in. I don't know about the sequels, remakes or reboots.
