If you want something really light and relaxing, I recommend Cannibal Holocaust.

You big meany, swnny. For this your avatar must die!!!

Very nasty movie, Mag. He's just joking with ya.

Guys – what do you think about Hannibal the series? I'm the biggest Mads Mikkelsen fan on this planet and for some reason the series was completely off my radar It seems like a more suspenseful kind of thriller/horror rather than a jumpy horror – what do you think? Is it fitting for a horror newbie like me?

You're speaking to the right person, my new bestie. I;ll cook for you. I ws such a superfan I became besties with one of the producers. Phenomenal!!! Dont get me started or I will not shut up. Bryan Fuller is a beast, Hawky the DoP is a genius as is Reitzell who wrote the score,, and Mads is a work of art. Dive in. The opening in the pilot blew my skull off.

Not jump scary although the score sometimes put hair on my teeth. Hugh Dancy who plays Will took me a few episodes to warm up to but then he owns it.

Visually stunning. Gore has never looked more beautiful.

OK you got me started. I have to take Mr Dani to the train because it's raining and he's too precious to walk in it. I'll be back to bombard you about Hannibal until you plead for mercy and start watching it. I have pledged eternal love and devotion to the showrunner for giving me this. It's a nightmare (but not nightmare inducing. It;s just a completely insane ride)

Fantastic, can't wait to get started. Also nice that Mads Mikkelsen is getting recognition abroad nowadays. I'm also a superfan (admittedly a little bit biased since I'm Danish, but still...) Must have been very interesting to befriend one of the producers !

Fun fact: (Believe it or not!) I actually met him on a pedestrian street in Copenhagen right after his role in Casino Royale. He walked up from behind and started petting my puppy... I couldn't believe my own eyes He was so calm and friendly. I remember it quite vividly. I was starstruck and didn't know what to say. Haha. Oh boy...

I'm so excited I could hug you, Viking. I;m a huge Mads fan. I was sent a promo shot of him by the producer signed personally to me and just about peed my pants. It's framed and hanging on the wall. Brilliant brilliant actor. He got me into Danish cinema which is unreal!

Will be back shortly. This guy's subtle technique is just amazing. Never have I been so scared by someone just moving his finger slightly on a scalpel. God, He's amzing.

Yes Yes Yes you should see Hannibal. If you dont...I will have to turn you into a souffle.

Bck in a bit.

That's what you think.
It was nasty. Wasnt Deodato bankrupted for his supreme court trial where people thought he made a snuff film? Not the sort of movie to suggest to a new mofo wanting to get into horror. And the real animal killings were horrific (much the same as that Uew Bol film Seed where he was paid by Peta lunatics to show their sensational footage). Stop joking, matey. You'll make me cry. I didn't see this until after decades of being a horror fan and being desensitised. It's a very nsty movie. Next you'll suggest humn centipede 2 or snuff 102 as a nice ease into the genre. No. Just no. Going back to discussing Hannibal.

Little Devil's Avatar
MC for the Great Underground Circus
just for the fun of it I'd love if you post a video on your reaction while watching Cronenberg's THE FLY.

OK back to Hannibal.

I first read about the 'reboot' on american horror story board. I cant stand reboots and furthermore, cant stand movies adapted for tv. Thought I would check out the pilot because no way could someone do justice to Anthony Hopkins.

Boom. Got hooked from the opening sequence. I now feel sorry for stunt men and women. That is not cgi. The guy flew down the stairs multiple times. And Mads totally makes this his own role

It's not a reboot. It;s a reworking of the characters. One character for eg, only gets one line in the book but Bryan created a story for him.

NBC creatives demanded a police procedural. Bryan said no but compromised with a killer of the week format. This annoyed a lot of people in the fandom but slowly the creatives let him have his way. First half of season 3 is what I think Bryan really wanted to make. It's completely surreal, then it bounces back to Dolarhyde (I'm not sure if you're aware of these characters in the canon)

It's an amazing show nd cn be viewed on so many levels. I was doing crazy sht in the kitchen like cooking brains with saffron to see if I could make it look like scrambled eggs. Sony Korea I think it was, made a teaser turning hannibal outtakes into a cooking show. The fandom was absolutely insane, and were even written about all over the net.

There were suggestions during season 1 about what season 2 title would be. I said Kaiseki and to this day I think the title Kaiseki was a kiss to me. Thank you Bryan. LOL. I love you and your rescue poochie, mn

The homages to horror movies are amazing. The bathrooms in The Shining and the outrageous scene in Cronenberg's Dead Ringers or Alien. Lots of religious themes as well, and pinpoints to art through the ages. Very clever stuff IMO.

Can't tell if you are seriously upset or not, sorry if you are. Was only joking around.

Wow, even Dani saw CH. I've never seen it, nor will I ever. But it's always brought up as a must for horror fans. That and A Serbian Film (which I will also never watch) for some reason.

Meh, I don't consider it a "must-see" for anyone because it is a really intense movie, and I understand why people don't want to watch it. For me, it's a fascinating experience watching it, and that's why I appreciate it immensely. But I don't fault anyone for not wanting to watch it, because.... turtle.

Anyway, I don't get why Dani was so offended by what I said. I'm pretty sure OP is smart enough to decide for themselves if they want to watch a movie called "Cannibal Holocaust".

I've had it recommended to me a lot, which is why it seems like the go-to movie. I don't blame you, though. Sometimes that curiosity gets the best of us. But, yeah, even I have to draw the line somewhere.

Have you seen A Serbian film? I read something about
WARNING: spoilers below
a baby raping scene
and I shut it down quick, ha. Some things I just don't need to see, even if it is just a simulation. There's a movie called The War Zone that just hints at this and that itself was unnerving.

I wasnt offended.
I'm pretty sure my language indicted that, or did my keyboard switch to mandarin???

Yeah, a long time ago though. I don't remember much about it. Haven't had much desire to return to it though, if that means anything.

Like when you said "you'll make me cry"?
