Welcome to the human race...
Guess my expectations for this movie was just too high.

Doesn't help that people call this the new Dark Knight or the best Marvel movie/superhero movie to date etc etc... Anyways, we'll see with a rewatch some time...
Thanks for keeping my expectations low. The sacrifices by both you and CosmicRunaway have been acknowledged.

Also, hyperbole is always a killer. I daresay it will hold up once the hype dies down.

Well, the threats were significantly much bigger, and more dire to the entire world in almost every other X-Men movie, I feel like if any f bombs were warranted it'd definitely be in the other ones.
They also were in better shape, had more team members, and better resources.

Iro's Top 100 Movies v3.0

I'd say yes, especially when you consider the context and maybe contrast it against the use of female nudity in, say, Deadpool. It happens as part of a montage of Logan working his job where he has to drive around some horrible people (such as the frat-boy types chanting "U-S-A" at the immigrants trapped behind the Mexican border) and, in a weird way, it comes across as a dehumanising moment for him. It's not just "some woman flashing her boobs", she's the centre of a bachelorette party so her flashing him comes across as "who cares, he's just the driver, it doesn't matter what I do as long as I'm having fun tonight" and this is borne out by Logan reacting with a sense of discomfort and embarrassment over how these people see him as nothing but a tool and a source of possible amusement. Obviously, it's not 100% necessary, but it's a quick but effective moment that helps to communicate exactly where Logan is at, how he's changed (compared to the guy who wakes up next to a mobster's girlfriend in Days of Future Past), and how he's treated by the ordinary citizens around him in this futuristic hellscape. Plus, it ducks most (if not all) of the issues with female nudity in film - it's not titillating, it's not amusing, it's not even part of some "dark-and-edgy" rape scene. It's a genuinely uncomfortable moment for character and audience alike, and that's why it works.
Don't think I ever heard someone analyze boobs this elaborate.

I strangely feel like Iro needs to do critical, detailed commentaries on porn videos after reading that. I think it's his secret niche.

I never could get the hang of Thursdays.
Jurassic Park (1993)

Still good. And the dinosaurs still look great. Interesting when you think of the dodgy cgi in some movies released in the 20 odd years since.

Passengers (2016)

I didn't read any reviews going in to see it, and I ended up thoroughly enjoying the film. It had some weak moments, but I was too busy being enamoured with the sumptuous visuals, and adorableness that is Chris Pratt. ♥

The Treasure of the Sierra Madre (1948)

I had seen this many years ago and only remembered small bits from after the three men set out on their adventure. What's so great about this movie is that the adventure is almost secondary. The themes of greed, trust, and madness take the movie over the top. Out of what I've seen, this was probably Bogart's most unlikable and least charismatic character, and the movie was better for it. After all, it isn't a one man show, and we get three excellent lead performances. It's a great classic.

Anyway...

Scenes from a Marriage -

whole lotta Bergman
I see your point, it makes sense, yet I still can't shake the feeling that since they were given that R rating, they ran with it. To the point where it was noticeable that they were doing it for the sake of doing it. It's a small moment of "what the hell?!?!" in an otherwise, solid flick.

Well, yeah. It's supposed to throw you.

When one of your main powers is putting adamantium claws through people’s skulls, the movie really benefits from having an R rating and it delivers one of the most brutal comic book movies to date. This movie is not only brutal in the violence it portrays, but in the sad conclusion of two of the most beloved movie characters in the Marvel Universe.

I came to watch Logan with very low expectations (since I had been burned before), but it quickly became one of my favorite comic book movies of all time. I never thought I would be sad watching a comic book movie and that’s why I love movie, you never know what you will get.

"Eyewitness" with Sigourney Weaver and William Hurt from 1981.

Not very good. Bad sound editing and film seems in search of a tone. Some good acting. Sigourney was hot. Hurt is usually always decent. Just a dated thriller. Probably much better back in the 80's. Didn't hold up for me.

What a Wonderful Family (2016)
