What are the best war movies in your opinion?

I was never a huge fan of war films, which is why my list is so short. What are some other recommendations along the lines of the ones I listed? Ones especially like Come and See, TTRL, and Apocalypse Now?

There are still many great titles missing, but, I'll leave those for the die hard war film fans. One of my favorites that always gets omitted from these sort of threads is A Midnight Clear (1992).

All quiet on the western front felt real and thats something i dont get from a lot of the newer war movies. Top recommend on this front for sure.

This has to be one of the best ever.

Very notable mention is : the 80s hit "casualties of war" with micheal jay fox

The Longest Day (1962) - just for the sheer amounts of cameos alone!

This. It's one of the most underrated movies ever.

Also 'Kajaki' is great but I think it was named something else in the US.

Loads of old ones like Escape from Sobibor, ice cold in alex, Tora tora tora etc

Recently: Son of Saul.....but have some bourbon handy.

I wouldn't really put schindlers list in the war movie department because altho it was during ww2, the movie is mainly focused on the holocaust which was different from the war itself
