Just a little thread in which Christine and myself can have a little fun every once in a while by collaborating on some themed musical top ten lists as and when we might feel like it.

You can't make a rainbow without a little rain.
Interesting idea for a thread, and for the first list.

I like Nancy Sinatra's song "These Boots Are Made For Walking", and I was glad to see it at #1 on your list, but I prefer the Billy Ray Cyrus version:

I love these 10 songs, they're from all genres but as a theme they fit together great
Nancy Sinatra's Boots is the daddy of the footware tracks tho. It's the first one to mind, and the sassiest!

There's a few versions of 'Boots' I like but Nancy's will always be the number one for me I'm afraid.

Pretty sure he's kidding about the GY!BE track Christine - I put them up individually at first and that particular one was repped ... but I didn't like them like that so subsequently merged them into the one post.

I was offended by the notion that there is music that is so boring it would put you to sleep. As an ambient fan, I love boring music.

And Christine is right. Godspeed is fantastic.

Master of My Domain
I'd love to see Crazy Train on the Top 10.

Btw, great Honorable mentions, especially Rock Island Line.

I absolutely love all the train songs we've chosen as well as the ones we left behind. Train songs can be very evocative, there's lots of country songs and blues songs featuring trains, and hobos, and dustbowl travelling. Lots of harmonica which I love to pieces.

Blues and Country do the best drinking songs I think. Trouble is that Country can get maudlin , like my auntie Winnie after a few gins

You picked a couple of good country drinking songs, but you didn't even touch the surface of the best of them. There are way too many to name here, (and some of them are too depressing for your thread), but here are a couple of my favorite upbeat country drinking songs:

Shelly West - Jose Cuervo

David Frizzell - I'm Gonna Hire a Wino to Decorate Our Home

Obviously I can't speak for Christine but you're certainly right when it comes to me as I always feel like I've barely scratched the surface of country music which is partly why I've often appreciated your noms in the song tournaments.

Thanks for posting those songs - wasn't keen on the Shelly West song tbh but I liked the David Frizzell number - btw posting maudlin tunes in here is fine by me as I love maudlin
