Revenge of the Nerds
(First time) - It was a lot better than I was expecting it to be and surprise to me, it was my wife's choice!!!

Last Weekend
- Patricia Clarkson stars in this boring film about a mother who wants to have one final weekend at a lake house with her family, like they did when they were kids, before she sells it. It's interesting to see that this film HAD potential, but squanders it on irritating characters, flat direction, pointless characters and cliched dramedy bits. The family just HAS to be dysfunctional because no family film is interesting if they are not dysfunctional. I'm starting to get irritated by this one. The film introduces subplots, abandons them, ties loose threads up in rushed dialogue literally just before the film finishes. This is on netflix, if you see it...pass.

Suspect's Reviews

The Flim-Flam Man (1967)

Strong start for this con movie with a nice cast. It became a little lighthearted and I thought it was going to lose me, but I got into the relationship between the two main characters. Good flick.

Princess Mononoke (1997) - Hayao Miyazaki

Haven't liked as much as the previous one...seemed far too long and dull at times...just too much...

6 out of 10
Yeah, I think that My Neighbor Totoro is a more in fit for the tastes of older people, more delicate. Prnicess Mononoke, action epic fantasy, is ideal movie for teenagers, like the Lord of the Rings movies.

Trance (2013)

I've always liked Rosario Dawson, but I gained oh so much more respect for her after seeing this. She's hanging out with James McAvoy, when she excuses herself to the bathroom. All of a sudden, you hear the electric shaver going, then she comes out. Hello! No shower curtain in the way, no shadows or bad lighting, just Rosario in all her glory, with a cleaned up undercarriage plus the big rack and everything. I'm not going to lie, my wife wasn't home. I put the movie on pause and gave her a standing ovation. It took me like 20 minutes but I finally figured out how to use the zoom function. As far as the rest of the movie goes, I couldn't tell you anything. Who cares really, just fast forward to the good stuff.

DAS BOOT (1981)

There may be those who won't be fully engaged by Das Boot. Some call it boring, and those who agree with that sentiment may gloss over writings and thoughts on the film. So, what are the criticisms?
'It's long.' 'It's slow.' 'There's not enough action.' 'They're bloody-murderous-Nazis!' And here we are.
Well, that's not how i see the film. Wolfgang Petersen and his cast and crew set out to craft a tactful story set in this time period and give you the viewer the experience of what it's like to be on a submarine in hostile waters during wartime. Had he cut out the 'draggy' parts, he'd be depriving the viewer of the real experience of being on a submarine. After all, you're enclosed in a hunk of titanium in the middle of a vast f*ing ocean. Enough setting up, there's a U-boat film to talk about

Open torpedo hatches

Autumn 1941. The German U-Boat fleet is out to blockade and starve out Britain, though the Kriegsmarine Oberkommando der Marine German Navy is suffering its first major setbacks due to British freighters sailing the Atlantic with upgraded Destroyer class escort ships. An example of a scene that captures why i love this film: Our U-boat floats along the water against a vast sunset sky, quite the artistic canvas → directly followed by a close-up shot of a German sailor picking a booger and flicking it on his shipmate. Right there. That's the set-up of the film, majestic visuals, illusions of glorious victories in battle on the high seas, contrasted with sweaty socks and grease

You're a young and enthusiastic crewman on a U-boat out to sink enemy convoy ships and bring glory to the Deutschland. When the Captain of your ship (Jürgen Prochnow) is good enough to sink those Brit bastards with destroyer escorts hanging around, now you've made some angry Brits. Out to wreck your world with sonar tracking depth charges and heavy fire blazing.

I read that Leonardo Da Vinci drafted the first designs for subs in the 1400's. His critics and the more practical men of his day likely thought him a kook and a loon artsy man, making up ships. 500 years later submarines sail the waters
Happy hunting, you old sea dogs!

All i want for Christmas is a Class 7 German U-boat

Dinocroc vs. Supergator
6 out of 10 because SyFy movies are my guilty pleasure

Also, A Nightmare on Elm Street (2010)
6 out of 10.

Le Boucher (1970) - Claude Chabrol

Heard a lot of praise about Chabrol as a filmmaker who is good in dealing with thriller/suspense...well, at least this is not it, it's not a very potent thriller...having said that, the film is not a bad one...

A Man Escaped - 8/10 - Wonderful movie. During WWII, a prisoner trying to escape. Movie also deals with loneliness, hope, suspicion.. If you liked "A Shawshank Redemption" you'll love this film.

The Cranes Are Flying (1957) - Mikhail Kalatozov

Visually, a film can never be better than this...this is my third film of Kalatozov (I Am Cuba and Letters Never Sent) and all three of them are stunning in terms of camera work and editing...this though is the best, a masterpiece, a must watch...

Trial of Joan of Arc - 5/10 - It's done well, but the writing isn't really good. Joan's answer to everything is "god" and it gets old quickly, even though the film is only an hour.

Hello all, I'm new here. The last film I've watched is "Pulp Fiction" a great one from Tarantino as usual. and the most memorable moment I think is a story about watch where Christopher Walken tells it to Butch(Bruce Willis).. If you don't mind I have a little video of this )))

I actually liked it.... I guess the reason I enjoyed it, is because I study Egyptian Mythology and believe me, if I went snooping into Osiris' tomb, I would expect no less from his son, Anubis.. Someone asked me what was the scariest film for 2014 and this is actually the movie I stated.. but I did explain the same thing... the Gods of Egypt are not ones to be f*cked with.
The reason I rated it THAT badly is because I rated it based on how much it scared me. It's considered a horror movie film, and it really didn't do the scary part for me.

But I love Egyptian Mythology myself, maybe if I didn't focus on it not being scary I would have enjoyed it more.

Finished here. It's been fun.

L'Eclisse
-

Need to let this sink in a little bit more in order for me to determine if this is the best of Antonioni's "trilogy". I certainly liked the film, although i'd say it's a bit overrated by cineastes.

Monica Vitti Would totally hold hands with her.

The Return (Andrey Zvyagintsev, 2003):

I thought it was a brilliantly executed, eerie film. Does anyone have an interpretation of the ending?

Gentlemen Prefer Blondes (1953)

Have thought about seeing this for years but finally got the chance last night. Marilyn Monroe and Jane Russell play two showbiz singers who travel by ship to Paris, with Marilyn flirting with a rich old man (played by the great Charles Coburn). A thin story line concerning a mistaken theft and Marilyn's love of jewelry is just silly backing to the songs and romance. The musical highlight is Marilyn's famous "Diamonds Are a Girls Best Friends." Young George Winslow almost steals the movie as a little kid (although a complete gentleman ) with a raspy voice who helps Marilyn a few times aboard the ship. Not quite a classic musical but lots of fun.
