Post movies that offended you

Noah.. I can guess. Others I don't!
I can't see Noah being offensive except to someone angry about a "historically inaccurate" portrayal of a mythical event.

Yeah. Some strictly religious people might take offense. But for Noah... the movie, I would say it's too much.

I actually do like the idea of creating fantasy films based off of Judeo-Christian mythology - in the same vein as films like "Clash of the Titans" or "Hercules" are to Greek/Roman mythology.

Taking it as offensive.

Lucy, the Fault in our Stars and Noah are the three most offensive movies I have seen recently.
It's your fault for taking them so seriously

Except Greek mythology is considerably more lively/fun than Christian mythology is... and those movies were terrible (unless we're talking Disney Hercules; if so, I repent).

I don't disagree with your post though. I had really high hopes for Exodus.

What's offensive about them?
Ah, hehe, its more of an offense to the viewers intellect in general (except for Noah, that was sinister).

The Fault in Our Stars, well it just seemed so cynical to me. Something kinda offensive about bundling up a teen romance with a cancer story in order to extract maximum emotion from a certain type of viewer in order to get $. Kinda like you could imagine a focus group set up to try to make a film that would appeal to that kind of 'emotion porn' viewer.

Lucy, again an insult to the viewers intelligence in terms of thinking they will happily get on board with the whole 10% thing. Just sticking the middle finger up to the viewer imo ('get Freeman to do a little speech explaining it then everyone will be on board'). Complete gibberish. The argument about it being Sci Fi, meh, it has to have some kind of basis in reality - perhaps 'offensive' isn't the right word tho.

Noah, this one probably takes the cake in terms of ridiculousness ever put on film. Again I was offended by its stupidity, but the actual contents (if you read between the lines) were actually fairly horrifying.. The babies god wanted killing because they might breed (with their uncles no less, or Noah, either way its not pretty) - if god wanted to end humanity, why would he chose to have the babies killed (the most innocent of all)? - why not kill the males who would breed with them (in fact, why not just make it clear that they shouldn't have sex with their nieces? :S) I mean, if you look below the surface on this one, its hard not to find it offensive

So perhaps I exaggerate with being 'offensive', but to me, they certainly offended my eyes and brain actually sitting through them and watching them, so, close enough perhaps.

I am the Watcher in the Night
I'm not particularly dainty, but Gangster Squad bothered me. Police should be held to the highest standards, and to romanticize cops taking the law into their own hands when the LAPD in particular have such a history of corruption was really wrong to me. And that's beside it just being overall a terrible movie.
Most movies featuring Muslims as the forever terrorists, a spot long occupied by the Russians.

Others include Once Upon a Time in America, for it's blatant misogynism, although I think it is a great movie.

Recently, the entire Hobbit trilogy, so it's blatant cash in.

Films about misogynist cultures are not misogyinistic in essence.

Films about misogynist cultures are not necessarily misogynist in essence. But sometimes they can be.

The Interview will probably offend me when it comes out if Sony's going to censor it just because they're scared of some North Korean hackers

They're not scared of N.Korean hackers, they're scared of losing money.
But who in America or the free world do they think would be offended over Kim-Jong Un getting killed on-screen?

I think a more relatable way to look at the thread is to think of movies you wouldn't want to watch with your parents or on a date. Like Mike Leighs Naked, I wouldn't want to do that.
Oh pishposh. I watched that on a double date...

...with my parents.

That's okay. Nobody's perfect!
I am not easily offended, and there's only one movie I can think of that has ever offended me: Once Upon a Time in America. It's been a while so I don't remember that good, but what I recall is that I didn't like it's portrayal of women. I watch a lot of movies with rape, but for whatever reason, this one rubbed me the wrong way. I also know that Jennifer Connelly was like 13 when this movie was made, and I seem to remember this movie showing her in some sort of sexual way. There was also a scene that showed a baby spread eagle fully nude, and I remember thinking, what a pedophile's dream. On top of all that, I thought the movie was a mess; very disappointing given my love for gangster movies.
This is great example of how different people have different reactions to the same film. I think Once Upon a Time in America is Sergio Leone's masterpiece. We all bring different life histories and ideas when we begin watching a film. Me, I was offended by Forrest Gump, which most people like. I hate it with a passion. Cie La Vie.

I'm not easily offended by movies either... unless it's racism towards my own race, the Chinese. In this case, I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry. That film was disgusting, and not just the racism either.
