Sorry if I'm rude but I'm right
Il mercenario a.k.a. Revenge of a Gunfighter (1968)
I give it
The l'arena scene is a masterpiece!

The l'arena scene is a masterpiece!
If I rated the movie for that scene it would be a clear 10/10! It's one of my favourite stand-off scenes of all the westerns I've seen so far! xD

I thought about giving it 8/10 because it's slightly better than La resa dei conti (which I rated 7/10), but it's worse than Giù la testa (which I rated 8/10), so 7,5/10 is probably more fair! xD

Father of the Bride Part II

A surprisingly decent sequel. It is more of the same with a pregnancy taking the place of a wedding and the shoe-horned in character of Martin Short shows up because I assume people loved him in the original. It goes through the same motions, Martin not wanting to let his daughter grow up. I feel like it would work better watching it right after the first one.

Dredd

Second time watching it and it still holds up. This film is shot well and has the comic book vibe that the original flick with Stallone lacked. I'll be as vocal as I can about Karl Urban, he's great and needs more roles!!!

Four Brothers

Shot in my hometown of Hamilton, doubling as Detroit. It was interesting to see some recognizable places. A bit hard to follow what the reason was behind the shooting, maybe I just wasn't paying attention. The chemistry between the brothers was believable enough and Marky Mark does his usual bad boy routine. It's nothing too memorable, but enough to pass the time.

Leaving Las Vegas -

I watched this to see just what kind of acting Cage did to win an Oscar. Part of me wanted to write off the whole thing because it's yet another movie about self-destructive people moving closer to oblivion over the course of one hundred minutes. The aggressively arthouse vibe of the film (16mm film stock, a slight case of overcranking, jazz all over the soundtrack, etc.) can even be a little off-putting as well. Even so, it's still got its well-made moments (the last 15-20 minutes are hard to watch) and both Cage and Shue turn in decent performances (even if the former is basically being his usual hammy self but with the odd miserable scene thrown in).

Hannibal (2013) - Season 1

So I decided to finally sit down and watch the first season of Hannibal, which I completed in two days.

At first it was a little slow, took me a couple of episodes to get into it. But towards the end of the season, I was sitting on the edge of my seat during every minute. This show is amazing. Acting, directing, writing and cinematography is as good as it can get. I can't wait to watch season 2, which I'm gonna begin right after I have written this. I will say that I do enjoy watching tv-series, and have been waiting for a new great series. This show is up there as one of the greatest among "Breaking Bad", "True Detective" and "Game of Thrones" which I consider some of the greatest tv-series.

The show is very dark and thrilling, anyone that is looking for a great tv-series to dive into should give this a try. And I've heard that season 2 is even better, I'm so excited!

10/10

Just in case you didn't know, we have a television tab too. Television Tab

It may get more discussion there as quite a few of us really like that show. Actually, Hannibal has its own thread too now that I think about it.

I can't wait for the third season.

The Pyramid (2014, USA)
Directed by Grégory Levasseur
7/10

Thanks to this film, I will no longer be watching any horror film that takes place underground, in dark lighting and small spaces. By the end of the movie, I was covering my eyes. Great film, loved the story, it got **** ratings on IMDB and Rotten Tomato but it is definitely a multi-jump scare film. I love the fact its about Egypt and its culture but I think I will probably have some type of nightmare about the film. And this is NOT a found footage film, most of the time you see the angles as a third person view, not second person view.

Haven't watched the show, but it's cool that it's featuring the Bond villain from Casino Royale

Wall-E

I'm kicking myself for not watching this earlier (preferably before the animation countdown), the adorable characters and visual style were the main pluses. It's almost like a silent film, using its actions and quirky sounds to elicit an emotional reaction from the audience. Great film, I need a watch or more to fully take in its message and surroundings but yeah, me dig.

Taxi Driver

How cool is that poster, seriously. Anyways.....

I don't think it's realized how good De Niro's performance as Travis Bickle really is. Taxi Driver isn't one of those dialogue-heavy films which intends to magnify the supposed prowess of a single actor, it's more-so reliant on actions, body movements and facial expressions to covey the story and that imo is much harder to nail as an actor. To really grasp what I'm trying to say, go watch the scene where Travis is in the diner (stoner at the door) and talking to his fellow workers, he's just so awkward, his expressions don't match the conversation and it's as if he garners contempt toward everything and everyone. De Niro total immersion into the role of Travis Bickle is disturbing.

Film still remains my favourite, obviously.

Thanks, I didn't know that! Would love to see what other people have to say about the show

Make a better place
I watched 3 movies recently. all in cinema

Anna (Mindscape)

a very good thriller with a bit of a spooky feel to it, but it's not horror

I was surprised by how good the movie is, maybe because I was expecting just another average movie.

This is the second movie I watch for Mark Strong, after Blood 2012. It looks like he chooses his roles carefully, maybe I should check out more of his movies.

Nightcrawler

I had that smile from the very moment the movie started until the very end, I was really amused and i had a great time watching it, definitely one of my top 3 movies of the year.

The Pyramid

Not bad, not boring, taking into account recent horror movies standards, it's just your average horror movie

Nightcrawler (2014, Dan Gilroy)

One of the most uncompromisingly salient American films of recent times. Not only a shatteringly insightful look into the ostensibly questionable merit of contemporary journalism, but, on a much larger level, an aggressive denunciation of the corporatist, capitalist model. It's a work that fundamentally demonstrates how unprincipled our system has become, and how we can grant enterprise and opportunities to businesses that run on depraved and venal convictions. Moreover, Jake Gyllenhaal delivers one of the most impressive and focused performances of the last few years. Elswit's beautiful nighttime photography and Gilroy's slick writing, direction, and pacing are noteworthy points, too. It's also a remarkably edited feature. I highly recommend this, if not for its radical political subtext and postulations but for its sheer intensity and drama. A great work, and this century's Ace in the Hole.

Blue Jasmine (2013)

Watched this yesterday, and can't get it off my mind. When it ended I thought it was good, but not better than Midnight in Paris. Yet I think I might be falling in love, and I can't wait to rewatch it.

At the cinema. Amazing experience. For the first ten minutes where it is just black with music, I had goosebumps for all of it. And the end too. So epic. Everyone stood up and clapped at the end too.

À bout de souffle a.k.a. Breathless (1960)

The beggining of the french New Age.
This is refreshing in so many ways! The pacing, the camera angles, the dialogues, the editing... It's good to watch a film that's not obsessed with the story, for a change!
Amazing performances by Belmondo and Seberg (she's gorgeous!!!!) and a really interesting soundtrack.
