The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (2014)

I'd heard a lot of negative talk about this movie, but I went by my old way of choosing a movie, which is simple for me....if it looks good and I think I'll like it, it usually turns out that way.

The main thing in the the thumbs-down category I'd heard was that there was too many villains, and that the movie was overstuffed with them. Sorry, not exactly the case. I don't think what I'm going to say is a spoiler, but I will say that Electro is the main villain in the film. The movie does have two other bad guys but they are near the end of the film and have about five minutes apiece. Besides Electro, the movie mainly deals with the continuing relationship between Peter Parker and Gwen Stacy and Peter's guilt over the promise he made to Gwen's father in the first film. This part of the film is especially well done.

There is a surprise for Marvel fans about three minutes into the credits that was a great surprise to me. It's very well worth waiting for.

totally agree with you're review and you're rating ! I love it too

Pirates of the Caribbean 4: On Stranger Tides: 6 out of 10

I thought this was an improvement over Pirates 2 and 3 since it did away with all of the over-the-top GCI and overly convoluted plot elements, and put the focus back on the actual pirates. I'm also glad that they restored Barbossa (Geoffrey Rush) to bloodthirsty villain status, seeing as they destroyed his character in Pirates 3 and turned him into a lovable lout instead of the cutthroat he was intended to be in the first film.

Overall though the film was disappointing - the plot didn't feel like it went anywhere or knew what it was trying to accomplish, and ended up being forgettable. Overall it was a decent but fairly bland adventure, not as ridiculous as the previous sequels, but still nowhere as good as the first film.

Jadesoturi (2006) ~ 7/10

I haven't seen this film in a very long time (2007) and I forgot how great it was. Im a fan of Tommi Eronen and his performance was great. AJ Annila is a great Finnish director. His other film, Sauna, is one of my top 10 listed here. Jadesoturi is the first Finnish/Chinese produced film. It is based off the Kalevala, a Finnish myth. It has a great mixture of drama and martial arts. I'm glad I finally got to re-watch it. One of my favorite songs is from the soundtrack and it was because of the bands listed on the soundtrack that I got interested in this film which lead to my love of Nordic cinema and music.

The music video outshines the trailer.

The Bib-iest of Nickels

Killjoy 3 - I always watch Full Moon Features with stunted expectations, I love the films, and it's difficult to describe why. Charles Band reminds me of when I joke around with friends, we make these really stupid inside jokes and stories, the difference is that Charles Band makes a movie about his. To be fair, some of his ideas don't actually seem too bad on paper. He has a lot of interesting and unique ideas, it's just that he has a six dollar budget and this strange desire to go out of his way to make his movies come off as cheesy. In the first two Killjoys, it had a largely black cast. And in-order to emphasize this, rap music played in the background of a lot of the dialogue.

Offensive, but for a lot of his movies, it can be argued that any race or ethnicity involved is being smeared just by being in the movie. They're all the riveting story of a porno without the porn!

This one actually wasn't too cheesy, or well, it was, but in a different way, it reminded me of the bad A Nightmare on Elm Streets. Ones like Freddy's Dead where they had to use 3D glasses to kill him. That ****. Yeah. However, there were still funny moments with Robert Englund. It's like that. It's cheesy, but there's fun to be had. My favorite Full Moon movie so far.

This movie entertained me with a capable cast, this movie is of a much higher standard than one of those horror b-movies that I watch so much, and I was entertained. It really messed itself up towards the end though, it became incoherent madness! However, the "twist" was surprising, but it didn't really save the last couple minutes. Other-wise, I liked it.

The Last Detail - 1973

Brilliant film. Definately up there with my favourite Nicholson movies and its a surely a cert for the 70's list. Great performances and surprisingly, for me, Randy Quaid was excellent, I wasnt expecting him to be that good. Thats a few from Ashby that ive really enjoyed now so i'll be checking out more from him.

Pacific Rim

A complete mess. I really like most of Del Toro's stuff but this was awful. I thought the acting was horrible, the sub plots boring and the fight scenes were horrendous, half of the fights i could barely even make out.

Priest of Evil.....

WARNING: "my quick review" spoilers below
So much upsides on this one: there are competent performances, a functional plot feat. a subplot, a grey and grim atmosphere that refers to Blade Runner, and so on... Essence wise, the film addresses one's messed up mind obsessed by creed and violence, and its brutal consequences. While such stuff may not sound new, the approach turns it into a distinct and worthwile crime thriller.

And t
hanks to the user MovieGal, whose comments on this one made me decided to watch it.

Im glad you enjoyed it! I was telling Mr Minio that I have far more than my absolute top 10 films and I wish I was able to add more to my profile because there are so many more great films out there that are unseen.

By the way, if you enjoy reading, you can get the book "Priest of Evil" thru Amazon in English. However, as always, there is a difference in the story line.

Got this recorded ready to watch for the 70s list myself, being a big fan of Nicholson, especially in the 70s, so I am glad to hear you enjoyed it so much and hope I do

Nice one Daniel, you'll love this. Jack Nicholson is hilarious as it is but when you add alcohol to the mix, he's on another level.

Syvälle salattu (2011) ~ 6.5

One of the great things about Scandinavian films is that some of them have a mixture of mythology with the story of suspense or drama. "Syvälle salattu" aka "Body of Water" is no exception and its because of that mixture that makes films like this so great. I haven't seen this film in a while and it was enjoyable to watch it again. I feel there was a lot of solid performances by the actors.

Sorry if I'm rude but I'm right
Since you seem to like Scandinavian films with mythology vibe to them I wanted to recommend Valhalla Rising, but then realised it's in your top. Oh, welll...

Hey, the samoan lawyer, great call on The Last Detail. It's one of my favorite 70's films and my personal favorite Jack Nicholson film. The scene where he gets one over on the bartender is one of my favorite movie scenes and still makes me laugh to this day.

RED 2 (2013)

Fun sequel that is every bit as enjoyable as the first film. The supporting cast really take the film, such as Mary-Louise Parker as Bruce Willis' wife, craving adventure, much to Bruce's chagrin; John Malkovich as Bruce's friend, whose paranoia about the bad guys coming for them is well-founded; Byung-hun Lee, who is after Willis, and doesn't need a gun to destroy everything in his path; and Anthony Hopkins as someone who has been kept under wraps for a very special reason. Not to say that Helen Mirren, Brian Cox, Neal McDonough, Catherine Zeta Jones, and David Thewlis aren't fine in their roles---they are, but the actors I mentioned first take the cake.

It is an action flick, but it's very funny all the way through. I liked it so much I'm hoping for a third film. Recommended, but see the first one to get into the characters.

Mr Minio, who is in my avatar and my banner? I have seen like 25+ films of his. Yes, I love Valhalla Rising.

4/5

Not a film for all tastes, but I totally loved it. I must admit I have a straight man crush on Ryan Gosling.

X-Men: Days of Future Past (2014)

caught a glimpse of some good ideas.. although one thing i noticed is that, in X Men First Class, Magneto was central and even tho i had never cared much for X-Men in general, i really liked Fassbender's character in that one. yet in Days of Future Past, Fassbender's Magneto seemed much more two-dimensional and like a typical a-hole. i guess the Magneto character definitely took a back seat to Hugh Jackman's Wolverine in this flick, as well as McAvoy's Charles Xavier.
liked it overall

+ 7.5 / 10

Le Cercle Rouge (1970)

An absolutely fantastic motion picture! It's directed with a superb eye for detail and an even better eye for coolness by the great Jean-Pierre Melville (I also enjoyed his The Samouraļ a lot). Despite this truly being a "director's film", I've also discovered one of my new favorite charismatic actors! I already watched him in Jean de Florette and Manon des Sources and liked him there, but in this film he is THE MAN! I'm talking of course about Yves Montand. He plays an alcoholic ex-cop who is a master at handling guns. He doesn't have the biggest role in this film, but everytime he appears on screen, his tons of charisma shine through. I'll definitely watch some of his other praised pictures in the near future.
He's not the only one who's great in this of course. The whole cast does a brilliant job!

All in all, it's the style and the sophisticated atmosphere that make this film such a masterpiece. I beg you people, see this before you send in your '70s list! This is one of those films that has to be seen by every fan of cinema. This is filmmaking at its best!

Magnificent movie!
