R.O.T.O.R. (1987) -

In spite of this film's reputation, it still managed to underwhelm me. Reading some reviews, I heard a few people describe it as a so-bad-it's-good ripoff of Terminator and RoboCop and, if that was the case, I might've enjoyed it more. Alas, while it's certainly a ripoff and has some cheesy lines here and there, it felt somewhat joyless and too dull for me to enjoy my time with it. The lengthy chase throughout the middle section was overlong and humdrum, the fighting was pretty unexciting to watch (not including the final fight), and it took too long for the film to get going. The runtime didn't feel earned. Also, as some others have noted, it has some weird racial caricatures thrown into the mix with Shoeboogie. Note that I said the film was only somewhat joyless though. In spite of it being a chore to get through, a few characters saved it from being a complete abomination. Dr. Houghtaling and Willard the Robot are a genuinely charming pair who deliver some of the funnier lines in the film. Their inability to properly maintain R.O.T.O.R. is rather humorous to watch. Also, you got to love Willard's police cap as, come on, that's just cute. Also, the depiction of Dr. Steele as a strong female character made for a nice contrast to the aforementioned weird portrayal of Shoeboogie. I wish those characters were in the film more. It's still a bad film though and I don't think I'll watch it again.

Last Up: Trog

Lemme just say, that this Hall of Infamy has been the most fun I've had since I first got here, and I'm probably not gonna be able to be patient for the next one.

It has also been drama-free so far, as opposed to most other Halls I've been in where there's generally at least a bit of drama amongst some participants.

We can fix that, um, ya big dummy!

I didn't actually watch any of the movies, I just read their Wikipedia summaries. When I made my ballot, I just put the movies in order based alphabetically on the director's middle name. Two people in this thread are just elaborate aliases I've created to ensure my pick gets a cozy space somewhere in the top 5.

I was just about to start some drama , but I guess I will have to behave myself now.

Who are the two aliases though?

My guesses are Allaby and CosmicRunaway.

Do it right at the end of this Hall. That way, it will be especially disappointing given how close we were.

Suspect had alts in the past for Survivor purposes, so he himself being an elaborate alias of Takoma this entire time would be the biggest dramatic reveal of all haha.

Okay, thanks (I think) to KC & SE for sending links to "Lust for Frankenstein". First thoughts while watching, would have sworn this was just '70s soft porn, B-movie, drive-in fodder. Then I espied the shaved privies of the stripper, this is when google was summoned, found it to be a 1998 output.

The use of filters grew old very fast, enough, so much that I almost turned it off...almost. Reminded me of the '60s film "The Trip" in that aspect. Still trying to grasp the gist of the film, Takoma's review helped in my understanding. But it really didn't matter, this was poo-poo on a platter and worthy of the nomination.

I think the plot is mainly that Moira has to satisfy the sexual needs of the monster by luring victims for it to kill. This is most of what happens as the various victims are further extensions to this premise. There's also a sub-plot at the opening and ending with Moira's ex-lover.

And then there's the murder.
You know, we spend weeks planning a murder in the PMs and then you just blab it all over the thread.

*sigh*

Maybe some people don't know that they have aliases here. It could be a Fight Club situation.
Be honest with yourself: what, if anything, do you remember of your life before May 2022?

Double indemnity, baby. Brag about the deed as much as you want.

At KC&SE, we torture with care.

American Flatulators

The comedy here fell flat....ulance. I'm sure these people had a compelling script somewhere that was lost in a fire then they had to fart from scratch. There's no way this was a script that got through editors on their first gas through.

If you want to watch a funny skit involving the toots. Watch Vanessa Bayer's goodbye sketch on SNL. It's where a silent movie star acts in a "talkie" for the first time and doesn't realize the sound guy can hear her farts. That is funny, to the point and leaves on cue. Something like this overstays its welcome rather fast.

Ben Dover? This is something an elementary school kid would find funny.
