You can't make a rainbow without a little rain.
I saw the 1986 version of The Fly many years ago, and I remember it being a very good movie, but if I remember correctly, it was heartbreaking to watch. While I did watch the 1958 original version for this countdown, I just couldn't bring myself to sit through the 1986 remake again. I'm not surprised to see it this high on the countdown, but it didn't make my list.

Hmm... It starts to look bad that The Changeling (1980) doesn't make our top-100. I'm genuinely surprised as I had the impression that quite a few people here like it.

Hammer getting shut out completely is more so disappointing. 19th Hall of Fame is coming up Pahak I think that would do very well in the Hall of Fame.

I had this on my top 25, then dropped it at the last second. Consider this one like The Fly, should have had on my list and at the last moment, I didn't.

That's another one I had to drop for another....

I had Suspiria at #9. A perfect example of a film that's good despite of making very little sense. It's all atmosphere, visuals and perhaps the greatest soundtrack of cinematic history. Requires a proper mood to enjoy though.

Welcome to the human race...
Pfft, there goes Dead-Alive's chances of getting in.

Damn you all.
You're only just realising this? My sympathies, though - I don't love it as much as I used to, but I'd still argue it deserves more acknowledgment here than certain other zombie comedies.

Suspiria was my #5. I wrote a review for it back in October that sums up my thoughts on it pretty well. A film that turns its bugs into features and, much like Eraserhead, emphasises the experience above all else and is all the better for it.

Well that’s just a pity. King Kong and Dracula( I’m assuming) both not making it while Friday the 13th Part III does? Oh well, I’m glad Suspiria made it. It was my 18.
7. Night of the Living Dead
8. Nosferatu (original)
11. The Bride of Frankenstein
12. Peeping Tom
15. The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari
16. Get Out
17. Nightmare on Elm Street
18. Suspiria
19. Saw
20. Scream
21. Freaks
22. A Quiet Place
23. Repulsion
24. The Babadook
25. The Invisible Man

Suspiria's excellent "Halloween" stylish sound and look, which goes a long way in regarding these horror movies well, about a coven of witches led by Elena Markos. The first film in The Three Mothers Trilogy along with Inferno (1980) and The Mother Of Tears (2007). I have a Limited Edition Dvd boxset of this, that came with a fifteen page booklet with an Introduction for Dario Argento's films, a 25th Anniversary disc, the feature film, as well as the soundtrack by Italian rock band Goblin. While I passed over Suspiria, I'd like to come back to it, and I included three of Argento's movies on my list of twenty five- Deep Red (1975) and two others that didn't place.

I've always preferred Nightmare on Elm Street to Friday the 13th, since its warping of dreams and reality makes up for the fact that it's a teen slasher (which I'm not fond of), but it still didn't make my list. Eraserhead, which I only recently saw for the first time, didn't make the cuts either. It's definitely an interesting film though.

The Fly was however on my list at #4. It was the first Cronenberg film I saw, so it holds a special place in my heart. It's one of those films that I've seen countless times because it always seems to be on tv when I'm home. I think Canadian tv only plays the same handful of things over and over, or maybe it just knows what I want to watch.

I revisited Suspiria just before I saw the 2018 reimagining, and honestly--you might want to sit down for this, but I kind of like the new version more. Argento's film is infinitely more visually appealing, but I prefer the actual plot and incorporation of dance in the newer film. I'll see myself out now, no need to throw things at me.

This is one of those movies I didn't bother with because I knew it didn't need my help. I plan on seeing it dometime.
