I'me about to sit and watch The Purge. I haven't seen it yet but it does look pretty good.
I liked the concept, but the reviews and reception threw me off. Also, I heard it was so dumb.

But it's turning into a franchise now, so I might get around it to see what's it all about.

I didn't end up watching it. My girlfriend wanted to watch Daddy's Home, which by the way is one of the worst movies i've ever seen.

American Psycho
Directed By: Mary Harron

Plot Summary: Patrick Bateman is handsome, well educated and intelligent. He is twenty-seven and living his own American dream. He works by day on Wall Street, earning a fortune to complement the one he was born with. At night he descends into madness, as he experiments with fear and violence.

American Psycho has got to be one of the strangest movie experiences of my life. It's a movie that is awkward and so tense that it gives off a really un-easy feeling while your watching the film. This is a movie that's very dark, disturbing and actually quite sickening. It's a movie that can have you laughing one minute, and then have you covering your eyes the next. It's also a very clever movie that is slick, stylish and very well made by Mary Harron. American Psycho is a blend of horror and humour and it's a fantastic film that's a pleasure to watch.

The one thing I will praise above all else in American Psycho is Christian Bales performance. Patrick Bateman is a serial killer like no other. He's so strange, so creepy, and so weird that you find your self laughing at scenes that you probably shouldn't be laughing at. It's a fantastic performance from Christian Bale and he delivers one of his finest performances yet. ( especially without his stupid batman voice).

Overall American Psycho is a very good movie. Great cast, great performances, and some very cool soundtracks. It's a very disturbing movie that will still make you have a laugh <<< sounds strange, but it's true.
Movie Trivia: In each scene with Detective Donald Kimball (Willem Dafoe), Mary Harron asked Dafoe to portray his character three different ways: 1) Kimble knew Patrick Bateman killed Paul Allen, 2) Kimball didn't know Bateman killed Allen, and 3) Kimball wasn't sure if Bateman killed Allen. Harron would then edit the takes together, giving the audience an unsure vibe of what Detective Kimball thought of Bateman.

This is the first I've heard of this and this is a brilliant directorial move on the part of Mary Harron.

Showgirls
Directed By: Paul Verhoeven

Well last night after much discussion with my girlfriend we finally decided to watch Showgirls. Yep, that's right... Showgirls. One of the strangest, funniest, and stupidest movies I've ever seen was granted a re-watch ( I hate those nights where my girlfriend gets to pick the movie). Anyway, if you have never seen Show Girls before i would best describe it as Step Up / Porn. It's a movie full of boobs and ass, and that's actually not a exaggeration. The cast spend more time with there clothes off than they do with them on. Which being a lad isn't really a bad thing, because if ime honest it's the only reason I would recommend this movie to anyone. It's full of naked girls, lesbian action, and wild sex scenes. And yet my girlfriend enjoyed this movie. Don't ask me why because I really couldn't tell you. Because apart from what I mentioned above this movie has nothing else going for it. If you asked me what's it's actually about I couldn't even tell you. All I know is -- it sucks.

I enjoy some of Paul Verhoeven's movies. Starship Troopers is great, Total Recall is a good movie, and Robocop is awesome - so I was very surprised when I found out he's behind this pile of crap. I really don't know what he was try to achieve here. Unless he wanted to make something for his own home pleasure. Because seriously, this movie is one step away from being a full on porno. The sex scene at the end of the movie is one of the silliest and stupidest things I've ever seen. The acting is terrible, and some of the scenes and dialogue is beyond the word cheesy. The whole movie is just utter crap and the only positive thing I can ever write is .... Boobs.

Overall Show Girls is a terrible movie with no real story. It's full of stupid scenes that make zero sense, and the movie is carried by naked bodies and bad acting. There is even a scene where a man puts his hand down a girls knickers to see if she's lying about a period <<< movie summed up right there.
Angelina Jolie would have been AWESOME as Cristal.

Road House
Directed By: Rowdy Herrington
Never had any desire to see this movie until I read you review...the fact that it is Peter Griffin's favorite movie helps as well.

Batman vs Superman
Directed By: Zack Snyder

The Story
Batman Vs Superman starts with the events from Man Of Steel. Only this time its from the perspective of Bruce Wayne and the thousands of innocent people on the ground below, which i thought was a very cool way to open this movie. This angle allowed the two movies to flow rather nicely, and it tied them both together for one hell of a showdown. Now i just have to say hats of to Zack Snyder for this, because it was a very clever angle to take this movie. Superman as the bad guy (in some people eye's) was something i had my concerns about. But when you look at it from the trail of destruction and death left behind from him and Zods actions from the first movie, then it was a great way to tackle this issue.

The Cast
The cast where fantastic. Ben Affleck takes Batman in a completley new direction here. He's absolutley awesome. He's a no holds barred version that doesn't give a **** about inflicting pain, or even killing the bad guy's. He's one huge, angry, terrifying bat, and my favourite portrayel of him yet. Wonder Woman was great, and the final showdown gets really exciting when she turns up. Superman was meh, but to be honest i've never really been a fan of the character anyway. The whole cast are good to be honest tho, which is just another positive for this movie.

Movie Trivia: Ben Affleck asked Christian Bale for any advice he could give about playing Batman. Bale told him to "make sure you can piss in that suit." The two men met quite by accident in a costume shop. They were each buying a Batman costume for their kids.

According to Ben Affleck, he was surprised when he was offered the Batman role and was at first hesitant to commit to it. He was won over after a meeting with director Zack Snyder, who pitched Affleck his vision of Batman and showed him concept art for the film.

When discussing the film, Henry Cavill said that it would address a major issue that fans and critics had with Man of Steel (2013), involving the huge amount of collateral damage caused in the film's climax during Superman's battle with General Zod in Metropolis. Cavill said that future battle scenes in movies featuring Superman would involve him making sure to not harm civilians himself and to protect them from evil villains.
Movie Highlight
My movie highlight has got to be Batman vs Superman. The movie builds some really good tension leading up to the epic battle and it doesn't disappoint. Watching Batman and Superman throw each other around through buildings, concrete, wood, whatever the fu** is around is very exciting stuff, and it looked amazing. Again hats of to Zack Synder for this.

Verdict
Overall Batman vs Superman was a great movie. Certainly better than what the critics have made it out to be anyway. Don't get me wrong, i can see some of the problems people have with this movie, like its pacing, or the dream sequences that where just thrown in for.... Well nothing. And maybe without certain scenes the movie may have felt a little tighter, but oh well. In my eye's this was still a very solid movie, and a step in the right direction for DC.

Good review. I'm on your side in the fact that although it does have its problems, it really doesn't deserve the kind of hate it's getting. It gets a
from me. I'll admit though, I am kinda fanboying over Batffleck.

Thanks Writer.

And MovieMed didn't you rate Bad Boys II
No.

It was actually a
- pssssst, Optimus *shakes head* ... AND it's definitely most certainly worthy for such rating! I did give Crank a
though - even more worthy!!!

I'm team BVS. It had some third act problems for me, but I really enjoyed it.

I also have a review up if anyone wants to check it out.

I'm positive I won't change my mind. It was the pinnacle of all things I hate about movies like this.

I didn't downright hate the film until the third act, but before that it was just weak and dumb. I hated Man of Steel too, it's no surprise I hate this as well...

I'm sorry, I'm not going to grow into BvS. But cool y'all like it, there gotta be garbage men to pick up the trash after all.

Deadpool
Directed By: Tim Miller

The Story
Its now become the norm that every year comic book movies flood the cinema. Marvel and DC seem to hitting these movies out faster than we can bloody watch them. Now I'm not complaining because i love a comic book movie, but sometimes the genre does become a little repetitive. Anyway, that's all changed with this movie. Deadpool breathes a breath of fresh into the Marvel universe with its quick witted, crazy, and absolutley hillarious character. The story offers some great humour, bloody violence, hot girls, awesome soundtracks, and a guy with a baby hand stroking a blind womans face.... I mean whats not to like here?.

The Cast
The cast and characters are all great, but the praise does have to go to Ryan Reynolds. His performance as Deadpool was brilliant. He was born to play Deadpool and nails the characters down to a tee. Morena Baccarin is also pretty funny, and pretty damn hot. There's also a couple of X-Men that make an appearance, tho not the big stars, just the cheap one's haha.

Movie Trivia: During a talk at Google, Ryan Reynolds revealed that the taxi driver character "Dopinder" was named after "a really cool guy" he knew in elementary school, who died when he was hit by lightning. It was meant to be a tribute to him.

Ryan Reynolds has said that Deadpool will be the last comic book character he will ever portray. However, he is open to Deadpool sequels and/or cameos.

In an interview, writer Rhett Reese stated that Negasonic Teenage Warhead wasn't always intended to be in the film. Other X-men such as Cannonball were considered, but they eventually used Negasonic Teenage Warhead because they "liked her name better."

The Deadpool costume had a muscle layer underneath that had to be removed because Ryan Reynolds was so muscular, the costume was not only too tight for him, but it made him look overlarge.
Movie Highlight
My movie highlight has got to be the movies humour. Now i've read a couple of reviews that found the humour to be... well not funny, but i disagree. I thought the humour used in this movie suited the tone of the character, and it is definitely to my taste anyway. But each to there own i suppose.

Verdict
Overall Deadpool is one the funnest movies i've seen in a long while. There is so much energy, so much action, and so much humour that you can never stop smiling. Honestly, my expectations for this movie where blown further than i ever thought they could. Fantastic movie, and one of my favourite comic book movies out there.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
Directed By: Jonathan Liebesman

The Story
In my opinion this movie was like another entry into The Transformers series, but instead of Giant Robots we have giant turtles, and giant Rats instead. Don't get me wrong i enjoyed it. The movie was very fun, it was action packed, and it was pretty funny. But it does suffer with the same problems as The Transformers movies. You know the problens right?. Weak story, bad acting, and messy action thats a little hard to follow. Oh wait..... and Megan Fox.

The Cast
I'll try and stay positive here. The CGI turtles are awesome. They look great, they sound great, and they are pretty funny. So thumbs up to whoever recorded there voices. William Fichtner is another positive. He's pretty cool and i've liked him in quite alot of things so it was good to see him star in this. Errrmmm, another positive is Megan Fox.... Wait. Turn your tv onto mute, grab some tissue paper, throw your feet up, and its parttttyyyy time... I love her.

Movie Trivia: Originally, the mutant thugs Bebop and Rocksteady were to appear in the film to fight the Turtles; they were to be martial arts soldiers that were given mutagen and turned into monstrous super-soldier mutants for the Turtles to fight. They were written out with the intent of appearing in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows (2016).

An early screenplay had the Turtles be aliens from Dimension X, the Shredder be an alien who grows spikes, and a breakout and escape at a mountainside Foot base. This screenplay received a huge backlash from fans and was discarded; however, the mountainside action sequence was retained. April's line "Aliens? No, that's stupid!" references the early screenplay.

Whoopi Goldberg stated that this movie has been a lifelong goal of hers: "My daughter was a huge fan of the original TMNT cartoon so when the original movie was announced she wanted me to be in it and so I asked around but it never happened, same with the other films they made, so when I heard this new project get announced I asked around again and to my surprise I got the part!"
Movie Highlight
My movie highlight would have to be the action. At times it is hard to follow as i mentioned above, but it is still very cool, and very exciting watching the Ninja Turtles kicking ass, which is something i haven't seen since i was a little boy. That reminds me, i really need to rewatch the old Ninja Turtles movie aswell.

Verdict
Overall i was pleasantly suprised with this movie. I liked it alot more than i thought i would, and although i compared it with the Transformers movies, it is atleast better than four of those.

Young Skywalker. Missed you, I have...
