Jif is/was that short lived cartoon character from New Zealand, from the early 1920s. It was a sort of clone of then famous Felix the Cat to try to cash in on the silent picture animation thing. Jif the Ferret was his full name and was adorable (IMO). Sadly, kids didn't take well to him as they mostly confused him with a rat. The final clip that featured Jif had him make a case for himself that he was not a rat. Sadly, the film was silent. Something the producer never realized being deaf, himself. That also explains the excessive production fees from all of the voice acting, sound engineering and overdubbing for country distributions.
