The Shoutbox
How’s any of that different from Bandcamp? From what I have seen, they are a shining beacon in the dark.
It is a little more expensive since you have to pay for every release, but given that I am in this for the long haul it makes more sense to do that than pay a yearly fee and not collect everything. I mean, I barely get any plays right now, so its kinda moot atm but who knows 5-6 years from now.
I am looking at using CDBaby going forward because I can collect ALL my royalties in one go, including international ones. I have to give up 9% of digital distribution revenue, but I will collect 100% of everything else.
I'm currently using UnitedMasters Select, but I have read some things that concern me. Shady behind the scenes/buried in fine print/legal jargon. They apparently will claim your songs publishing rights for themselves unless you ask they don't, and that process is a nightmare. So even tho they say you get 100% of your royalties they are actually holding back on certain ones so that when you try and go file yourself it'll stop you and say their is a conflict because someone else has already claimed them. And they don't claim them with your information but rather the name of the company that underwrites UnitedMasters.

I empathize. Which one were you using? I'm thinking of trying OneRPM.

Looking at switching distributors for my music. I've done some research and, best I can tell, I picked the wrong one. Yay, more work.
