Good to hear you're not just setting on yer ass wasting the summer though Yin - hope it all goes well for you and 'the mom' (she didn't ever wrassle did she? Just wondering as that sounds like it could have been a stage name).
And I'm sure there's plenty here that care, I even think I might have spoken to one once (in 2017 if I remember correctly)

not that anyone cares, but I gotta waste a few mins at the office and detail my life in the moment.
i'm not sure what all i've shared, but the mom has retired. next weekend is the final move from Montgomery to here. for the past two months or so I've either gone there to help pack or she's come down here to help me get old stuff out of my home to make room for hers. a lot has gone to the local Rescue Mission. other stuff has been tossed to a dumpster I've had sitting in my drive for weeks now. mostly old busted up furniture, painting panels from college days, old work binders, etc.
a few weeks ago, a crew came out and cleared out 4 oaks that were too close to our house. we get hurricane winds every fall and I rarely sleep well those nights in fear of one or all of them coming down into my house. those are gone now. as are a handful of pines and the entire fence run that said trees have devoured over the years. that's a creepy view now. my goal this fall is to cut the roots and chunks off of these remaining stumps ranging from 6" to 3' myself, and then burn each stump until they're all level.
nearly all of my mother's things have gone into a storage unit. this unit was actually a miracle as last week, we both nearly had nervous breakdowns (it runs in the family, fam), as the time remaining to clear MY house to make room for all HER stuff is quite short now. we gave up. she called around town and found one---the only one---storage unit in my town. WOW. the guy at the desk said the place is 100% capacity, 99% of the time and this unit had only been emptied two hours before we got it. everything is going there, including most of my music gear. next week, we move her remaining bulk items there and continue clearing my house.
the next steps are to rip up and replace carpet, replace the central AC unit, remodel the bathroom and kitchen, and paint. then, maybe we can start moving her furniture in. in the meantime, we're trying to keep calm. trying.
she drove down to the state line to pick a lottery ticket. we're both really counting on the financial gains from that investment to assist with these renovation expenses.

Nothing can go right for me. I turned 40 today. Yesterday, my cousin changed his mind on tomorrow's Chicago concert, and after finding someone else, I see that Robert Lamm (lead singer/keyboardist/writer) didn't make the last two shows, so there's no point to go.
